As far as my knowledge goes, Japan has nothing to do with the Pagoda.

Looks very much like the Shanti Stupas that the Japanese got made at various buddhist places in India!
That does not even look like an ancient construction from Ashoka's time.
Gautam, please take a look here: Trip to Orissa: Day 2 (Part 1): Chandrabhaga Beach, Chandrabhaga River, Sun Temple at Konark, Shiva Temple at Dhauli Hill (Dhauligiri), River Daya, Shanti Stupa at Dhauli Hill (Dhauligiri) | AdmirableIndia.com

It is a Japanese Shanti Stupa. Indo-Japanese collaboration, LOL!

I'm yet to recover my data, haven't uploaded the Darjeeling, Gangtok photos yet.

We planned for Lake Tsmogo but it was closed because of snow, and the tourists who went the other day got stranded and army was called to rescue them. close to 1700 got stranded.

so no Nathula pass and Tsomgo lake

Welcome to Darjeeling

Welcome to Darjeeling

The song,"Meri sapno ki rani kab aayegi tu, aayi ruth masthani kab aayegi tu" made this place and train very famous

Batasia Loop is a loop (switchback) created to lower the gradient of ascent of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. At this point, the tracks spiral around over itself through a tunnel and over a hilltop. The railway line negotiates a circle and ascends 1,000 ft in altitude.

It was commisioned in 1919.

It is 5 km from Darjeeling, below Ghum. There is also a memorial to the Gorkha soldiers who sacrificed their lives after the Indian Independence in 1947.

From the Batasia Loop one can get a panoramic view of Darjeeling town with the Kanchenjunga and other snowy mountains in the back-drop.

We spent less than 12 hours in Darjeeling, somehow didn't like the place, and still wonder why it's called "Queen of hill stations", when we reached in the afternoon it was drizzling, we checked into the hotel, in the evening had a walk around the bazaar and next day morning left for 3 view points

Tiger Hill, Batasia loop, since we were running out of time skipped the Ghoom Monastery.

upcoming, spectacular Kanchenjunga.

After Batasia loop, our next destination was GANGTOK, which was the best place in our overall journey, simply superb, the road from Darjeeling to Gangtok is awesome till half way through the journey the river Teestha follows you. and Gangtok one of the most cleanliest cities I have ever seen and for civic sense.

Trivia: You cannot find a straight road in entire gangtok for not more than 500 Metres
