Update

A few pictures from my brother who visited Kaginahare and Mookana Mane Abbi falls last weekend. Actually, the rainy season is not the time to visit places. All you click is rain, rain and more rain. But for people like me who love rains, this is heaven.

A small pond between Hongadahalla and Kaginahare

The guys had to do some tricky 'off-roading' to reach the face of the falls

Kaginahare. A small depression on a grassland has created this pond filled with rainwater

It was raining pretty heavily and unfortunately, they could not get pictures of the ruins. So here are some pictures of the rain

Bangalore-Hassan-Sakleshpur-Donigal (Manjarabad Fort-Take the road on the left)-Byakravalli junction-Take a right turn here towards Bisle ghat-Hethur-Baachihalli-Take a right here-Hongadahalla-Kaginahare

There are no boards in English to these places. If you get confused, ask for Hongadahalla. To reach the falls, you need to take a right turn after a couple of kms after Hongadahalla. There is a board indicating direction, but it is in Kannada.

You could probably squeeze in a visit when you travel between Bangalore and Mangalore. But, be sure to come in an SUV or else, you might take a whole day just to negotiate the potholes

How I wish I was out there now

Hi,

Very good pics. Loved the lush green outfields and the small pond.

oh yea am dreaming of a Bolero(CRDI) for sometime now, one thing for sureon the coastal and hills you need a vehicle which you can throw around i mean on the potholes and not worry much on the maintenance part, all these years have noticed only Bolero/Scorpio which are driven confidently on the bad stretch....

There is a small change here. The road to the falls is a couple of kms before Hongadahalla and not after it. Sorry for the wrong info. Also, the board which was there earlier is not there anymore. It has fallen down.

This time I took a different route to this place. Hassan-Ballupet-K Hoskote-Kodlipet-Igoor-Hethur-MMA Falls. This is a few kms shorter than the regular route, but the road condition is very bad.

Sights around Igoor

The tricky trail to reach the base of the falls. It is quite slippery over there.

This place reminds me of Kota Tinggi in Malaysia! Amazing. I'm surprised as to how I missed this out being so close to it.
