A noble gesture Vikrantj. Request you to keep me informed of such activities in future so that I can also volunteer for same!

I'm still waiting for the monsoons which are playing truant. Pune is all dark and cool, but the skies simply aren't opening up.
Office work is terrible and has me stuck most of the time. Thanks for the photos guys!

Spent the weekend (26-27th July) at Lonavala-Khandala. Here are the pics:

The long shots look beautiful.

Need a TBHP-Weekend Getaway edition (A La Outlook Traveler).
I have the one for the Bangalore. Dont need one for Bombay/Pune!

@sdp,
nice pics of Lonavala and Khandala.
Though nice greenery, i feel that there is something missing in the pics...what should be...may be the RAIN.

Absolutely right. Rain has played truant yet again in Pune for the 16th straight day. It looks dark and ominous all the time. But skies don't simply open up. Never seen this kind of weather pattern in my life at all.

The 2 days & nights we were there, it rained for less than 10 minutes:Shockked:.
This must be my 6th or 7th trip to this region and I have never seen it like this in monsoon.
Generally we do not let such circumstances dampen our spirit. So we converted this "getting-drenched" picnic into a "sight-seeing" picnic a la Matheran or Mahabaleshwar. There were lots of vistas that I have never seen earlier because of the thick fog cover. Overall, we were happy with the break. It was unconventional for a monsoon picnic, but pleasuarble none the less.:)

1. I was told that the only place from which you can get a good view of the Aamby valley is from the top of Korigad. Can the experts comment?

2. Can Visapur fort also be approached from Bhaje village (the starting point for Lohagad trek)?

^^SDP. Yes the best view is from korigad. Its a very simple trek of half hour .
Its the same route for visapur as for lohgad. Just at one intersection as you start towards right side towards lohgadwadi /lohgad, you have to take left for visapur. Though way till top is little difficult to locate and climb.

25/26 sept
02/03 Oct

Not tentative dates from my side. I'm going to go on all three weekends.

Are you going to go by yourself or with your family. How long does the trip usually take and the distance from say Wakad please.

with family. From Wakad it should take max 2.5 to 3 hours.

Here's a break up of the toll and parking charges during the weekend trip to Omkareshwar/ Ujjain/ Shani Shingnapur/ Grishneshwar.

As Mx6 rightly suggested the tentative dates, i hope, sept 26th will be the right day for the drive.
18/19 sept are during ganesh festival, no scope for drive.
2/3 oct will be too late for flower season, less scope.
25th sept will be on saturday, less scope.
26th sept is on sunday which will be most probable date.

I suggest it as one day family drive meet.

I suggest the itinerary as---

satara start point-thoseghar waterfall plus lunch-chalkewadi wind mill farm-sajjangad fort[ depending upon time]-kaas lake-satara end point.

Hi,

MX6 ,I hope you dont mind me putting some of the snaps of Ratangad and bhandardara dam.
