The place is MENWALI 4km away on the way to dhom dam from wai.

For some years, this place was epicenter of Maratha kingdom.

Arre Saab. we don't know each and every village names. Hamare liye Wai hi kaafi hai.

You are a Maharashtra atlas. I told the secret of how you know every road name in maharashtra to all members who attended the tapri meet. :D

Honest - I updated with this reply sometime back. Don't know what happened..

Great pics, vrprabhu. The 'point and shoot' I have could'nt do justice to this place when I went there an year ago.

we continued further on that road eventually exiting onto NH4. It was a fun drive.

The ghat section was in pretty bad shape at that time. Add to it, multiple 'U' bends with incline combined.

Hmm, my P&S Canon A450 deserves the kudos then!

Yes - more of that later.

Remember what I said at our Tapri meet, about a nice ride after the next meet?

Guess the place.

1] Krishna river in the early stage and a beautiful temple.

2]The fort Pandavgad in the background.

1] Wai?

2] I always fail miserably in Geography and their connection to the names....

Guess what AP saab. I wanted to take my parents to this place to eat. But due to some strange reason I ended up in Puran da dabha and spent 2000 bucks for 3 person's meals.
My mother has vowed not to come out for dinner after that!
:D

So waiting for the shock to subside (I got one too looking at the bill) so that I can take my family to this place! I've heard great stuff about chokhi dhaani.

C'mon, guys! I am getting lost here...

mmxylorider, please bring these people to order - else, I quit posting :D

this is how the roads will be - remember I went in peak summer. Make the trip now, it would have transformed into green.... and remember what 'mmx' said about twisting roads! Do they twist?!!

If you catch sights like these, wonder how the rocks turned red (years of spitting pan juice could be one explanation... he he he)

If you catch sights like these, blame yourself, technology, greed, multinationals... these towers are an eye sore and they are now contributing towards extermination of winged beauties...

MS, When I was in Pune earlier this year, my colleague took me to this place on a Sunday evening while we wanted to go to Lavasa and we both spent great time eating and watching them perform.

He being a typical Indouri and having visited the place earlier, turned out to be a great guide me in taking to all the corners and shops ensuring all was seen including the group snap of ours in traditional Rajasthani attire.

The dinner was amazing as well.

I vowed to take my parents next time I am in Pune (Probably this weekend).

If you are coming this weekend and going to Chokhi Dhani, do drop in my place. It's very near. You have my number anyway.

:thumbs up Done deal. Most likely I am starting early Friday morning with Parents (Wifey and daughter will not join this time). I guess you stay somewhere in Kalyaninagar/Viman Nagar areas as I remember you mentioning travel one way more than 30kms from Hinjewadi! ''

I will call you when I am there for sure.

I agree. These towers really take away some charm of the countryside. But then, that's the price of progress. At the very least why can't these towers be painted a color that makes it blend with the surroundings?

Is it Sinhgad?

roamingrao, will you please give directions to go to this beach? I love visiting beaches, and this one looks lovely!!
Going through this thread, feel like posing my own travelogue, for the Konkan trips that I did over years to Dapoli/Ladghr, Dive Agar, Shiroda/Aravli beach, Devgad, etc...

Hey, the entire credit should go to MX6! We are just following him... but that's a difficult task, as he does not get lost but always finds new places...:D

And speaking of new places, the pictures of the beach are fantastic. I don't have a clue about its location....

I agree with AP. Sinhagad. BTW, we don't need brownie points - we require a proper travelogue with pictures here....

Don't get tense, anil! Be on the look out for a red ford ikon with t-bhp stickers and follow it - rest will be easy :)

To continue with my trip -

As soon as you reach the top, you'll be awestruck with this sight-

Magnificent Maharashtra - The Mahalog!-img_1853.jpg

Sorry for the bad picture - my hand must have shook. I wanted all of you to take a look at it, because the temple has a two tier structure. Which I feel is somewhat uncommon.

Magnificent Maharashtra - The Mahalog!-sp_a0085.jpg

Really a marvelous piece of architecture - which has withstood the ravages of time. I stress the word 'ravages', which you'll understand as I proceed...
