Isn't it better to take Chennai - Krishnagiri - Dharmapuri - Palani - Kodai route?

Distance comparison:
Madras-Trichy-Manaparai-Dindigul 400 kms-Kodai 95, totalling almost 500 kms
Madras-Krishnagiri-Mettur--Dharapuram-Palani-Kodakanal, 450 kms

I think the first route may be faster.

Thanks CL, will do today.

I am really honored to see hvk's comments here for sure. Yes, there were signage's to Palani, once we are on bypass of Dindigul we will hit a beautiful four lane road towards Palani.

Hello Majic, Starvegabond - thank you, will continue today.

hi arindamray - i had to go to Trichy to meet someone, hence that route, but seeing hvk's comments, the one i took is faster, i m not sure the distance of going through madurai, the road is exceptional if we take it through madurai.

hi vdiatech - yes, we did enjoy alot, except while going to kodai, the strecth through dindigul from trichy was pathetic. rest of the whole ride was fabulous and Shine is beautiful.

ascend to Kodai

once we saw the board towards Kodaikanal we were very excited to know what is in store for us at the top. It was 48 kms and we knew it will take atleast 1.5 hours.

We originally had planned to have atleast 2 hours to spend at the lake in the evening, but by the time we would reach top it was sure to get dark. Hence my wifey & I decided to slow down the ascend and enjoy the nature.

Once we were few kms towards kodai we can see the hills and misty clouds tugged in, nature at its best. From a distance we saw beautiful waterfall and were amazed like small children . Then we saw the Silver Cascade on the way.

I will let the pictures to the talking (though I know that my camera is not as good as some of the top guys here, but at least the pictures capture the moments).

Once we reached Kodai, we checked into Hill Top Towers, it was close to 7 PM and we both got refreshed and went out for a small walk.

It was chill and nice breeze around, we both were very tired hence came back to the hotel & ordered food from the hotel itself, we were amazed with the quality of food, enjoyed the dinner thoroughly and called it a day.

Hey Sri, great photos. I loved the pic of Silver Cascade. We drove to Kodai by 11pm and weren't able to enjoy the scenery en-route.

We were at 80 km/hr, when we passed the Silver Cascade. We could not even catch a glimpse of the falls. Thanks to your pic, I now know what we missed!

Do continue. Waiting for more pics.

I reconfirmed my guess here

They have kept a green board indicating the turn to Theni located at a visible place.

Great pics mate. I live in Madurai and often head to Kodaikanal with buddies during college holidays. The place is lovely during the rains. Mists play lovely tricks and the nights are chilling. Perfect for bacchus to imbibe our insides. Please post more pics Srikanth. We would love to see more and more pics.
