Photologue - Chennai trip in my LINEA 1.3

I went on a trip to Chennai (Chengalpet) from Thrissur on 6th May. I am attaching the photos of my trip. I followed the directions as given in 'mapmyindia' website and kept a print out of the directions with me. As and when we passed the locations, I marked on the printout to ensure that we were on the right track. Upto Salem it is very good road. From Salem to Ulundurpettai it is a single road, but the widening work is going on. This stretch of about 115 kms slowed us down. We started at 5.15 am from Thrissur and arrived Chengalpet by 3.00 pm. We had sufficient breaks for breakfast and lunch.

hi jaisha,
thanks for the snaps, it is a mixture of some good and scary photos. could you tell us the total distance you covered and average speed. also the route summary.

4th photo from bottom gives me a feeling that some one decided to take the short cut by shifting to the wrong side of the divider to escape the long line of trucks.

From Salem, instead of going to Ulundurpet, you should gone on NH7 to Krishnagiri and then onwards to Chennai via Vellore.
You would have been on GQ all the way!

Any specific why you did not take that route?

I was not aware of this route, a lot of time lost this way...

yes, now the left side is for the trucks to clear the Valayar checkpost. So everyone takes the right side road. If mistakingly you get behind one truck you would be stuck for days...

Oh the famous Valayar Checkpost

that's a nightmare, it’s a common sight in Valayar MS.

Jaisha you should have driven the complete route you would have loved the trip even more.

Made me LOL; I've experienced this situation (but not so bad) at Palakkad & Hosur (somewhere in 2006).

5:15 from Thrissur & 15:00 at Chengalpet is not a bad time either & that too on a non NH7/NH46 route. I did during December & took the usual Chennai-Krishnagiri-Salem-Coimbatore-Palakkad-Thrissur-MVPA & it took about 12 hours drive from home to home with very little break. When going, took one at Pallikonda toll, next somewhere in between, next at Salem. While coming, one somewhere in outskirts of Coimbatore, next at Salem & that's all. So your time is good one.
