A very short travelouge. This time a trip to Hogenekkal waterfalls. The pics were taken on 18th of Saturday. The amount of water in the walls was good. But climate was surprisingly hot. Even on a cloudy day in monsoon month. Not worth going in summers definately. The road was very good. All the way to the falls. Better stock up on things to eat. In between saw a Hummmer, MP registered at Anand Bhavan. I hope I got the name of the eatery right. The funny part was that the Hummer had a red light on its top. Hummer as govt vehicle??? And Dosa especially Onion Dosa at Anand Bhavan is very good. Coffee is good but Tea sucks.
Time for pics.
No car pics coz my car was really dirty and I don't want to get lynched by Bhpians for not maintaining it well.:)
But Punto handled the roads real well. First time I touched 120 on it. I am not really in position to comment on things coz this is the only car I have driven till now. But my friend who has driven a lot of other cars felt that the in cabin noise was rather less as compared to the rest of the Diesels he had driven till now (He has not driven i20 till now so take this with a pinch of salt). Braking is very very good. And these OVRM's do make some surprising amount of noise at high speeds. Despite the closed window I was able to hear it.

Sorry for no captions. But posting this in hurry coz have to go to office. And I sacrificed my exercise hour for it.

Nice pictures. Did you manage to get any of the standard "diving kids" photos ? The only time I've been there was in April : the falls were beautiful and the water was gushing, but the heat and the sunday crowd ( not a place to stand peacefully, not a place to park for a km and a half! had to park near the checkpost and walk all the way to the falls in the Im-going-to-give-you-a-sunstroke heat ) and made my trip a miserable one.

Hey nice pictures download2live, this place looks interesting. Can you please share some more details of your trip? Did you ride t

download2live: Good snaps. Its always hot at Hogenekkal. Interesting - gushing water falls. But there are calm areas as well. So with this flow they do have the coracle rides. Hm... What months do they stop it and when do they operate it? During my recent trip, just after the Palar border there was a right diversion to Hogenekkal. There is the Pennagaram route for TN guys. How do KA guys reach Hogenekkal? Long back I have seen KA folks with their cars on the other side from where we entered.

Nice pics. Hope you get time to post more details of the trip. Have been planning to visit the place for atleast 3 years now but haven't done it yet :D .

Nice pics mate. But are there no life jackets while boating. For a non swimmer, this is not very encouraging. However, the falls seems to be in all its glory due to recent monsoons. Will sure hit this spot soon.

Awsome pics.. especially the multiple falls .
Had been to to Hogenakkal this year around March this year there was good amount of water but multiple falls(as a result of monsoon) like the ones you have posted were missing.
Anyways, take sometime to see my link

Nice pics. You missed your exercise? I am also feeling a little bad since I couldn't jog because of the rains this morning.

Great pictures and the falls were in full spate!! you missed your excercise but we excercised our eyes just admiring the well defined snaps. A little more details of your journey will enthuse us to scratch Hogennakkal of my list.

Nice photos there. I'd have loved to see the smoke effect (mist arising from the falls) more pronounced.
Afterall, the falls derives it's name due to the same!
Hogena Kallu!

Nice short travellogue and nice snaps mate!!
Hogenekkal is one of my favourites - been there 3 times. Good place to relax for 1-2days. Few drinks + Fresh fried fish + Oil massage + Bath in falls + Short swim = Perfect recipe to refresh.

And the kids diving for 5 bucks are always wonderful to watch.

In one of my trips, we were offered by the coracle driver to swim along with the boat holding it. Myself and another friend decided to do so. After a few minutes of jumping into the water (in the river between those hills)and swimming nicely, we casually asked him whether there are crocodiles. And he said "occasionally a few":Shockked:. The next fraction of second, we were inside the boat. Even now I lol when I think of that moment and expressions on our faces.

Its never too late, especially when you got a Punto begging to be let loose on the highways.

If you ok with a little amount of heat then I don't think you have a reason for not visiting this place.

That oil massage is not for faint hearted. Trust me.

Nice Pics. Indeed great falls, been here 4 years back at peak season. It is a sight to behold. Btw, were there any hooligans present? I have been hearing lots of reports about drunken morons troubling all visitors, specially the females. I postponed my trip twice due to this.

Oh yes they were there. Kingfisher cans and bottles guys :). But most of them were busy getting brutal massage and smoking.
