A Spiritual trip with my ailing queen

This was a trip that I had been wanting to do for a long time. Took a lot of cajoling to convince wifey as she was against the idea of confining herself to a car for 8-10 hrs. She finally agreed just because of the lure of the destination and the dates. Accommodation bookings were quickly made and I started gathering route info and charting out a detailed plan.
Since my queen was not keeping good health off late, I decided to take her to her new doctor for a complete check and treatment for her ailments. When we thought everything was right, she started running high temperatures on and off. Another visit to the doctor and I was told that she needed a brain scan. I took her to her family doctor who wanted her admitted and suggested a possible surgery. I went to another hospital for a second opinion - and they too reiterated the samething and also told me that the sort of treatement she needs can be handled only by her family doctor.
Now I was in doldrums - I could not think of a trip without her. In fact the whole trip was planned only with her in my mind. After a lot of thinking I decided to go on the trip with her come what may.
Did we make the trip - yes and my queen managed to pull along through the whole trip. Stand by for more...

Ravi,

You guessed it right - the Queen is my Indigo XL DiCOR. She has been a darling always and has never let me down. My wife turns green at her sometimes because of the time and money I spend on her - in fact my wife says that the car is my first wife. And it is only for the comforts that my queen offers, my wife agreed for this long drive.

Keep guessing for a few more hours on the destination - I will upload some pix as soon as I get home today.

The trip was meant to spend sometime at the ISHA Yoga center at Velliangiri, Coimbatore. For a long time wifey and I had wanted to do some volunteering there. Since my kids' school closed late to coincide with dusshera, we decided to throw in a quick trip to Kovai Kutralam as well.

I am having trouble with my home PC while my office laptop no longer allows me to download from the camera (thanks to the new policy changes and encryption). So you will have to wait for some more time for the pictures. In the meantime here is the summary:

Oct 8th : Chennai - CBE via Salem - night halt in CBE town after a quick visit to Ashram (Start 6:40 AM Arrival at Ashram - 5:55 PM)
Oct 9th : CBE - Kovai Kutralam - Ashram - night halt at Ashram
Oct 10th : At Ashram
Oct 11th : Velliangiri - Chennai via Sathy, Mettur (Start 10:00 AM Arrival at Chennai - 9:30 PM)

Total Distance covered - 1308 Kms (137 city / 1171 Highway) - includes 70 kms of Chennai city driving on Oct 7th.
Fuel consumed - 63.63 Lits
A/C usage - 15% during onward and 95% during return
FE figures (assuming a city FE of 12 kmpl - my normal in Chennai):
Onward (Highway only) - 25.32 kmpl
Return (Highway only) - 20.12 kmpl

Expenses:
Food - 1712.00
Acco - 3300.00
Fuel - 2565.00

Didn't keep track of Toll amounts. Highest encountered was for the Thoppur - Krishnagiri sector - Rs.66.

Nice. I had been to Isha Yoga centre. Its a calm, peaceful and lovely place. Best for those who love meditation in the foot of Velliyangiri Hills.

I wanted to go one more time, but don't know when !

CN: I was one of the few users who saw this thread as soon as it was posted. I knew the minute you mentioned about your queen that you are refering to your car. Most of us treat our car this way and thats the reason why we are part of TBHP.

You getting 25 Kmpl on highway is fine but assuming a 12 KMPL for a diesel vehicle in chenani traffic is too low.

Thanks.

FE has always been like that - 12-13 kmpl in city. On my earlier trips also I have seen FE's of 20-21kmpl on the highways and 17-18 kmpl on the ghats. And all these figures are with 100% AC. This is the first time she has run such long distances without AC.
