Back to Bangalore

On the way back, we took Thirunell - SH33 ( Mananthavady - Mysore ) via Nagerhole tiger reserve. We had many interesting incidents on the way back.

(1) My wife was driving through the rather narrow forest road and on left side we saw a tusker (not fully grown) with long tusks grazing on a tree very close to the road. A bus came and stopped next to it on the road. I believe this was an irresponsible act because there are clear instructions displayed all over the forest to not stop the vehicle to see animals. The road is not wide enough to accomodate 2 vehicles parallely and my car just squeezed past the bus. In the mean time, the elephant became furious, trumpeted and moved quickly towards the bus. In front of us, there was a tractor, a Maruti Esteem and a Hero Honda motor cycle. All the three wanted to turn back but what followed was pure panic. The motorcycle was not getting started after many attempts, the Esteem driver was trying to reverse the car but jumping the clutch. In between tractor guy managed to turn the tractor (not the trailer following it) and successfully managed to block the whole road. People started to yell and were really frenzied. Probably sensing the human idiocy, the beast got bored and decided not to pursue humans. It crossed the road and went to the other side of the forest

(2) Again, while driving through the forest, an adult deer decided to jump across the road quite close to our car. We were driving slow and so it did not result in any emergency braking

(3) Driving in the forest, a large swarm of bees suddenly appeared from no where and started pounding the windshield and window glasses. Had the glasses not been rolled up, it would have been a different story altogether. Thank God.
