Is it a good idea to visit here from now(Sep) till Dec ?

This would be the perfect time to visit. Just don't time it with the arrival of monsoon in Chennai - it rains here too during the beginning of retreating monsoon

Would the Christmas-Newyear be good ? Am doodling on that period !
I hate crowds and hope that period is ok with lesser tourists everywhere?

Do you really want to do this for New Year? The New Year Revelers may be a nuisance, particularly since you hate crowds. Remember this is generally a day trip for guys from Palakkad, Coimbatore and Trichur. Any other weekend would be good in December
