Make sure you maintain 30 psi in all 4.

Also do remember running in your tyres for the 1st 500 kms. They will actually start performing to full potential only after 500 kms :thumbs up

I have filled 29 psi on many occasions on my Conti A/T but those are too hard compound so i do that to get better ride quality.

Michelins are softer hence i'd suggest 30 psi.

Also i have never filled nitrogen as i have the habit of checking tyre pressure once a week or before/after a long trip.

Hi Guys,
Upgraded the original 265/65 R17 Dunlops to 275/65 R17 Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres. driven less than 100 kms till now. Much better ride comfort and handling in the Capital's mean streets. Will post pictures and detailed review shortly.

30 psi is ideal for best grip, comfort & all round performance.

Max is go upto 32 psi under load (7 passengers + luggage)

I completely agree with Karan. I am driving alone most of the times in my beast and keep the Tyre pressure at 30 psi. Even 32 feels like too bouncy without load and Toyota themselves recommend 30 psi IIRC. :thumbs up

Please lower the tyre pressure and you will immediately feel a difference in ride quality.

I agree. Ideal is 30 psi all around. 35psi quoted by BK tyres as the owner Atul said its a 275/65 R17, wider than the original 265/65 R17 tyre ; Thus the confusion. Will reduce to 30 psi and give a feedback. Thanks for the prompt response guys.

I am keen to know if anyone in the forum is using Apollo for the Fortuner. I would need to change mine soon and is looking at the options available. Feedback on most of the other brands could be found on the thread, but not on the most economical option - Apollo

Thanks Karan, but what's the compromise I will be making if I go with Apollo (safety, road grip, comfort, off road, life, tyre noise etc)? I would like to contain the cost, but not at the expense of some these major elements :) .

Toyota service engineer suggested Bridgestone (than Michelin) to suite onroad/offroad mix without losing the toughness of the SUV. He menitoned that stock Dunlops are available at around 24 K with Toyota and around 20K in outside market

Michelin will give you best ride quality hands down.

For an complete A/T tyre i'd pick the Conti Cross Contact A/T over the others in the market.

Dunlops are an All Season tyre and not All Terrain. (Also stick with made in Japan as made in USA are not as good)

I am using Conti for our other Fortuner in Kerala. There we have more than 50% off-road use and is extremely happy with that performance. I don't plan to use it for the Fortuner I use in Bangalore for the hard ride it gives on highways (more than 90% use will be city and highway)

I am a big fan of Michelin and has used it on my Elantra and 320D (not run flats). I am worried if the hard road abilities of the SUV will be compromised in Michelin, else it is Michelin all the way.
