Brands? Scourge this forum (this thread especially) for all the info. I did the same and shortlisted Michelin Primacy 3STs or Michelin XM2s.
A friendly tire dealer (who is selling both of these at the same price) advised 3STs if you'll be sticking to city driving on good roads only and XM2s if highway/bad roads are expected. (Apparently the 3STs have a softer sidewall than the XM2 which makes XM2 the better choice on less-than-ideal roads)

Is this true? I thought the the softer sidewalls has been fixed on Primacy 3ST. I'll let Nikhil comment here as well, but from what I've seen from the initial feedback, the tyre is very premium and designed for asian markets so am assuming the softer sidewall issue is no longer here. It was there in the earlier generation of Primacy tyres.

The approx. price in BLR for the Primacy 3ST is 5,900/- as against 5750/- for XM2. I went in for the XM2 as I dint want to lose out on the FE and longevity of tyre life...otherwise the 3ST is superior in most other departments such as comfort, noise levels (ST stands for Silent Tuned), grip and braking. Again Michelin claims that the 3ST life has been improved as compared to the earlier version by 25% but my guess is that it would still be less compared to XM2...

It's been almost a month since I upgraded my 3rd-Gen Honda City with 3ST's.

Initial impression:
km's driver - 1000
Road type - Good/bad and bit of highways.
Positives - As name suggests they are really quite, grip levels are good (my earlier tyres were GY OEM [crappy]) while cornering and braking.
Negatives - None so far.

Only thing I constantly remember to do is go slow on bad crater filled roads, definitely most of us do that :)

I'm not sure regarding the question on safety you're asking. Michelin XM2 are one of premium tyres for that segment. Just mention 185/65R15 XM2 and the tyre shop would be able to provide you with one.

For pricing, just do your research online. If you buy a set of 4, usually they come with discounts. Some sites:

The 185/65 R15 was not the primary recommendation on this thread. Check URL - the primary/ideal recommendation is 195/60 R15

Guys i'm expecting my car soon (SV i-DTEC) and i wish to install 16 inch alloy wheels (i feel they are the best compromise both ways - Comfort (Side wall is not as small as 17 inches) and looks (they look better than 15 inches)) , the tyre sizes i'm considering are 195 55 r16 or 205 50 r16 , so which size according to you guys should i upgrade to?

The tyres i'm planning are Bridgestone Potenza MY-02 (195 55 r16) or Yokohama S Drives (205 50 r16) which are available in both of these sizes , are there any other options i should consider? I want a sporty looking tyre , but have heard a lot of negative feedback about S Drives.
