Last month when I accompanied my friend for shopping some good quality alloys for his Swift, the salesman replied to us that Aura brand of alloys are having lots & lots of defects/complaints and they are fed up with Aura brand and stopped stocking it. The same is also the case for NeoWheels. And he showed us some good looking Taiwanese alloys(forgot the brand name) and told us that it's the best brand of alloys available in India. And it comes with a 1 year replacement warranty.
Although the Taiwanese alloys looked good to me, but I never trusted his words and decided not to buy it.
So infact, is there any problems with the Aura/Neo or any Indian brands ?
So when it comes to tyres, T-BHPians usually recommend Michelin/Bridgestone..........etc, etc. So is there any brand of alloys (like the above tyre brands) that an average buyer can atleast trust when shopping for alloys ???
And.......How can we judge the quality of alloys at the time of purchase ?
I have been having aura alloy wheels on my esteem for the last 2 years and have not had any problems so far. In my opinion, Aura is a reputed brand and am surprised at the comment made by the salesman to you.
Sure that sales man gets more profit on Taiwanese ones. There is nothing wrong with Aura.
But still how do the various brands rank up?
Like Plati etc...??
aura has old designs whereas neo keeps getting newer ones. also look at plati, league, lenso, hr. or if you have a higher budget then something like oz.
I think the shop you went to had bad credit problems with aura & aura must have blacklisted them. Aura alloys are one of the best alloys made in india. of course they are dull & boring. HR is taiwan made & looks damn sexy. i know people who have been using them for long & there have been no complaints either. if you like aura, please go for it.
I would always trust LEAGUE. I had the alloys on my BOLERO and they were just awesome.....i never had aany issues with the alloys on the bad roads of kerala....
Brands that are easily available and are used by close friends without any problems till now are:
League
HR
Prestige
Lenso
(There's another one which I'm forgetting, will update when I remember the name)
Some have also used wheels like Enkei (me), OZ etc. but they are not easily available & are quite expensive.
Are you asking what's the best available here? OZ wheels.
Now, it's a bit difficult to find many designs, but some designs are easily available if You're ready to spend. And it may not be stocked by the dealer/supplier but will be brought down against order.
Then amongst the Taiwanese, There're some names which stand apart. Lenso is one of them. League also has better finish and quality compared to others.
If You're comparing Aura with other cheap Taiwanese stuff, Aura is far better than any of those. Neo is also good. They have better designs than Aura too.
If asked to choose between Aura and Neo, then Neo will be the pick due to better/new designs.
i went alloy wheels shopping yesterday...saw a lot of brands.... Neo,Prestige,League, HR, Lenso...i would go by most of the others....Aura alloys are good, reliable but boring..Neo wheels are smart looking and reliable, Prestige and League are very good looking and reliable(come in a lot of designs) and all of these above come with warranty on manufacturing defects..so no need to fret over damaged wheels. If you want to go for AURA...Please go ahead..they wont give u trouble...you have been given wrong info about the wheels.
However if you ask me about how i would rate the alloys:
1. Prestige,League(14,500/- for 13 inchers,17,500/- for 14 inchers and the price moves up with the size)
2. Neo,HR(same price range as above)
3. for higher price brackets: Enkei,Lenso(35,000/- for 15 inchers and above)
4. OZ (cant say the exact price but for brand value OZ is unbeatable.)
5. Taiwanese, Thai Wheels(good looking but buy at your own risk)
6. Chinese Wheels(again...flashy and good looking but god save you)
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Ansh

1. Plati (what I have)
2. BSA
hey,
there is also a local indian company by the name of Arihant if i am not mistaken.....these alloys are cheap and are also of good quality and light weight.....i have seen quite a few on cars and they also make spinner....
Few years ago there was a alloy wheels brand called Synergy Doorey. Their factory was located in Visakhapatnam and one of my past co-workers who worked there earlier promised me to get set of wheels for cheap. I think they went out of business. They were doing good during 1997-2000 period
could someone please share the website address for Plati rims.
thanks.
@theMAG, I really like the look of the Plati rims I've seen so far. Simple, yet elegant. I'm sure they're reliable too.....However, what are their price brackets?
I've had it up to here with steel wheels, man....I'll definitely be getting alloys soon, either HR or Plati.
