Does anyone know the cost of 195/60 R15 Primacy LC. Could be interesting to know, even though I have driven only 40K on my OEM tyres, and still hopefully have 10-15K/15 mths to go for replacement.

I got the following data today (9-Jun-09) in Mumbai. Are these realistic prices?

Also, there is a Goodyear Assurance in 205/60 R15 at Rs. 4500 and the dealer said was the best tyre.

My personal recommendation would be the Michelin Primacy LCs or the Yokohamas. Not the AD07s though. They will be overkill and waaay too expensive.

S drives are good too. stay away from the Hankooks and Dunlops as there is no support back up for those tyres.

What is the price of Corolla 15" rim?

hi I purchase the same size for ANHC at Rs 4700/- a tire in Mumbai.

I just got myself 205/55/16 Yoko A Drive R1's. They're phenonmenal!! Look at those as well, I actually wanted 215/55 but they werent available. They're classified as Sport+Economy tires.
Cost about 5200 a tyre; so I think in 15s they would be cheaper.

Thanks a lot for making up my mind about Michelin. That is sometime in the future or maybe even tomorrow (cash does not stay in my bank for long, and ESOPs are rising in value).

Do let me know if you know some way of cleaning up the Corolla alloys (original). +2 years old and some dust is now permanent. Unable to remove them in this Delhi humid heat.

Can we have some pics ? I dont think the R1 range is available in 15"

Well, I really dont know much about cleaning alloys. One thing though. Take them to a guy who knows his stuff. I do know that using just soap water is harmful to the alloy.


He said 16"! It is available in India starting from 16.

Anant, 205/55 R16 is a completely wrong size for SX4.

I would ideally not like to change the rim and am looking for a set of tyres that would give me better grip and smoother ride without having to compromise much on ground clearance. I do quite a bit of highway travel with family.

1. I guess the options i have are then 205/60-15 or 215/55-15. Am i right?
2. If so, which would be recommended?
3. which brand and type should i look for, what would be the appox prices?
4. Lastly, if there is any recommendations on places in Hyderabad that i can get the tyres, that would be great.

Hi Varghese,

I wouldnt suggest you to upsize beyond 205 section tyres.
The original tyres are 195/65 R15.

My recommendation is like this.

Performance + comfort, but a little noisy: 205/60 R15 Conti CPC2.

Comfort+ total silence but not all that great steering feedback : Michelin Primacy LC. However, this doesnt come in 205/60 R15. You need to stick to OEM size of 195/65 R15 or go to 205/65 R15 for this tyre. In 205/60 R15, you have only XM1+ available.

See, with 205/60 R15, the ground clearance will reduce slightly. But with the Corolla, it shouldnt be a problem as the GC is pretty decent unlike the Civic.

You can think about 205/65 R15 also if it fits in the wheel wells. My recommendation on the model of tyre remains same as above.

Prices: Michelin doesnt come in 205/60 R15 unfortunately. So, in 195/65 R15, it costs around 5k. 205/65 R15 costs around the same.

CPC2 in 205/60 R15 costs around 5.5k.

Thanks - i went to the tyre shop here and they showed me two options in 205/60R15.

Yokohama V 550 - this is from the Decibel series which i believe is designed to ensure low noise as the name suggests. It cost around 4950/-

Michelin XM1+ - Slightly more expensive at 5550/-.

The thread patterns in both looks different and am not quite sure which one to go in for. Any advise? or is there something else that i should look for?.

You can go for either of those two. Both are good. The V550 is supposed to be somewhat bad in the wet. That is what online reviews suggest.

Why dont you get the Conti CPC2?

Thanks for the quick reply - asked for Conti CPC2 but they did not have it, will look for it again otherwise i guess i will go for the XM1+, think i will prefer a Michelin to Yokohama.
