Team-BHP - Tubeless for Santro

I am a Santro user since 4 years and Verna user for the last 6 months. While Santro came with Bridgestone tyres with tube, the Verna came with tubeless also from Bridgestone.

Santro tyres have punctured 4 times in 4 years while Verna tyres have already punctured 5 times:Frustrati .

Is bridgestone tubeless known to attract nails?
Is there a more puncture resistant tubeless that is suitable for Santro?

From the discussions in team-bhp, these tyres have been recommended:-
Bridgestone Turanza for long life
Bridgestone Potenza for good grip
Michelin certis for silent drive
Not much written about Apollo Accelere. Any feedback on this ?

Go for Michelin Energy XM1. They are very good. If you want great grip and sporty performance go for Bridgestone Potenza. If you want durability and reasonble performance, go for Bridgestone Turanza's. Donno much about Apollo:).

I have been advised to go for tubeless but "with a tube" since it will give advantages of both worlds
1) no need to change stock wheels to alloy wheels - the tube will retain the air even if the stock wheels are not in perfect condition
2) in case of puncture, you can still drive the car

How sound is this advise?

Tubless tires are not designed to be run with tube, and such running should be done only in emergency conditions. In case of puncture it will not make any difference. If it had been the case companies would not have spent millions on run flat tires.

That's a load of total crap. A tubeless when equipped with a tube will lose it's air the moment it's tube is punctured, thus rendering one of the main benefits of Tubeless tyres absolutely useless.

I would advise everyone to stick to tubeless tyres in their stock form please do not add any tubes to them. I've using tubelesses for years now on the worst of our roads and have never had any problems with them.

I changed and tyres about 2 weeks back with details as follows
- upsize tubeless 165/65 R13 tyres
- michelin energy xm1
- Rs 2400 for each tyre inclusive of balancing and alignment
- extra for balancing weights
- Dealer - anand tyres - kasarwadi, pune
There is a good improvement in the ride quality.
