Is there any review of Jimny on Stock 195/80 tyres vs 215/75 AT tyres?
Also, would wet performance of stock tyres be better than AT tyres?
After seeing reviews of EVC-X for Jimny, I am considering the vehicle again as I plan to move to mountains in another 1 year or so.

Looking for this as well.

Additionally, any pointers on a dealer for Continental/Yokohama/GoodYear in Bengaluru who can give a good price for the stocks. I checked with Tyre Empire HSR and he was quoting a 2K value as a buyback price for 4 tyres combined (straight out of showroom).

Why are we not considering 225/70 R15 size? It is the perfect upgrade in terms of overall diameter and does not upset the speedometer or the AT gearbox. No impact on pickup either.

Apollo Apterra AT2 is available in 225/70 R15 and I have them on my Jimny. The extra width adds rock solid stability and straight line traction and it does not foul with any body or suspension parts even under full load and articulation.

215/75 is a taller tyre and there have been reports of it fouling under severe articulation and load, plus it results in a speedometer error and also the AT gearbox shifting point gets upset since the tyre is larger diameter.

See the screenshots attached comparing the two sizes with stock tyre size.

Hello there. Can you post some pics of your car with these tyres on? I am inclined towards this size and would like to see how they look.

Thanks.

Jimny in Hikkim, world's highest post office!

5000km review of Conti Cross AT in 215. As mentioned on the thread I had immediately upgraded the tires. Having driven in some extreme conditions now and spent significant time with them on the highways as well I am happy to report the tires have been excellent and taken everything I could throw at them. The downsides being minor increase in road noise, minor increase in steering weight and some reduction in milage. Overall they performed extremely well in extreme off road conditions as well as on-road. This has to be one of the best upgrades for the Jimny but I have also since then had the chance to drive the stock jimny tires in very extreme conditions and I believe the stock tires can do most of what these can do, the only difference is it might take a little more effort or you might need to put the car in 4L. I also am sure that these tires are much more resistant to punctures due to the tread, although I feel the sidewalls are indeed soft but never faced any issues.

I find these to be the best looking 215 for Jimny. They fill the wheel arch as beautifully as a 235 sans the intricacies that 235 bring. How is the wet surface and on gravel braking with these?

No issues in the wet and gravel.

They look very good on my Gypsy - perfect size compared to a 215 or 235. But my Gypsy has a 7J rim. For the stock 5.5J rim of the Jimny I chose the 215/75/15 to stay within ETRTO recommendations for safety. Look decent enough… although 225 would have looked perfect. I like these tyres.

Has anyone used Continental AX6? How is the comfort? Is comfort better than other AT tyres? As most of my use will be on tarmac, I am looking for something that does not affect comfort too much. Please share your perspectives if you have used it?

Hey everyone. I need some advice. I really like the look of the Sparco Dakar set designed for the Jimny, but they're 16 inch wheels. Will I have an issue installing them? Would I need a lift kit. Can anyone guide me on this front please? And if I can go ahead with it, does anyone have any input on what tyre size is most suitable? Thanks guys. As usual, this noob appreciates all the assistance!

I guess, with the recent increase in the sale of the Jimny's the tyre dealers are kept busy. They have their favorites and try to sell them.

What is the consensus on the safe tyre size for the Jimny with factory alloys and steel rims?

Also, what is the best buy back offer received for the factory tyres.

I have upgraded to Yokohama Geolander AT 215/75r15 on stock rims, they fill the wheel arches perfectly and also enhance the looks.

I upgraded to Ceat Cross Drive AT TL 100S 215 / 75 / R15 Tyres @ 5800/- each. I also got the lock nuts from Farad. However, I am able to use only 4 nuts on the spare tyre which is tail gate mounted. Where do I use the 5th nut? Pics attached below. The metal projection (used for covering the tyre) also looks ugly. Any fix for this?

5 nuts are for 5 tyres i.e. 1 for each tyre.
Buy a hub cap for spare tyre from Nexa ( part number mentioned in Jimny review thread).:thumbs up

Yokohama Geolandar A/T with the 215/75/r15 are available in two options

Yokohama Geolandar A/T 215/75/r15 100 S and 215/75/r15 97 LT

The 100 S is advertised as Smooth Ride/High Mileage/Low Noise vs the 97 LT is advertised as Excellent Dry&Wet Grip/Low Noise. The tread pattern seems to be same.

My usage is mostly in the city and the 100 S seems to be the obvious choice for me. However the my dealer in B'lore only has the 97 LT with White/Blue Lettering and is willing to buyback the stock Birdgestone Duler H/T 195/80R15 96S for 4500/- a piece. 100 S is available online but then I will have to find a buyer for the stock tyres.

So my question is, does the 100S vary significantly from the 97 LT in performance?

Hi which tyre did you finally put on your Jimny, also if you can share the details of the dealer I am looking at upgrading the tyres for my Jimny.

If the purpose is to remain "stock" but increase capability marginally off road has anyone considered the 195/80 r15 Ranger BRT from JK tyres? By the way , I decided to take the plunge and booked for the Alpha MT on 28 th Dec...Managed to get 14.4L on road but didn't go in for the extended warranty..
