Team-BHP - Need Serious Help..Michelin PP2 or BF Goodrich Or Yoko but what Yoko ??

i need some serious help guys..pleaseee
Rains are around the corner.. and i need new tires.
Currently running 185/60 R14 Yoko Avs-Es 100's .Have run them for approx 22,000 Km and also the rains are coming.. so its time to change.
I generally never use any set of tires past 22-25,000 Km either.

Now here is my problem.. Yokohama ES100's are no longer available. And not to mention i want better grip.
Would love to get the Yoko S-drives in my size but i have no clue as to their availabilty in my size. Any Idea Guru's ??

Bridgestone G-III's according to me are getting very old !!. Although a lot my friends love the tire and i know they drive HARD .
Also they are built using old technology. Want something New from bridgestone now. The RE001's look delicious but they certainly wont be available here in India.
Only plus is the G-III's are available in my size.

Now about Michelin PP2's.. have heard nothing but praises about them. Also from what i gather they are very good in the rain as well.
Most tempted to go for these guys..Also Available in my size.
But like i said im confused..lol lol

Have no clue about BF goodrich. But they do look good.
Although they are Also Available in my size.
how would they rate against the G-III's and the S-drive's and for that matter even the Michelin PP2's?

Would really appreciate if you guys could help me out make up my mind.How would these tires rate against each other ?
Also can i also ask for approx pricing on the tires as well ? Not that cost is a factor.
Have been quoted around 4K for the G-III's in my size.

like you said es100s are no longer available.
the potenzas are too old and their ride is crap.
you dont get pp2s in that size. you will get pp1s in 195/60 r14.
the bfgs g-sport should be available in 195/60 r14 and those are suuposedly direct competition for pp2s and s-drives.
s-drives arent available in 14".

IMO the bfg g-sport would be the best best out of the lot.

S-Drives are indeed available in 14", 185/55 R14. The thing is 60 profile & above are in ES100 while 55 & below are in S-Drives. That's the differentiating factor rather than rim size.

Now coming to your queries, the options you have available are:

Michelin PP2
Yokohama ES100
BFGoodrich G-Force Sport
Bridgestone Potenza GIII

Out of these I would forget about GIII's, they are passe. Out of the remaining the best tyre in the wet would be the PP2's, followed by the S-Drives which are equal to the BFG's. And Akshay the BFG's are aimed at the S-Drives not the PP's. No company will introduce two rival products into the same market from their own brands (BFG is owned by Michelin).

So, my preference would be PP2 & then either S-Drives or BFG's. Price of PP2 is around 3.8-4k per tyre while S-Drives & BFG would be around 3.5k.

Had a chance to test the PP2s in the wet recently, and they surpassed my expectations. Even in slushy conditions, when the other cars were tiptoeing around the roads I was able to coast without losing a beat. Going around slushy and wet corners were a breeze too.
I have not used any of the other tyres you mentioned, so I cannot comment on them. From personal experience I would wholeheartedly recommend the PP2s.

I've not used PP2, but the PPs on my Palio (205/50 R15) were a blast in the wet. It rains for close to 6 months out here, and I'd never had to tip-toe around just because the roads were wet, with the PPs. The PP2s must be even better. Performance in the dry was just great! Though they are performance tyres, the PPs gave a pretty comfortable ride too. My only beef with them is that they wear out pretty fast.

I run S-Drives on my Swift (205/50 R16) and I'd say the S-Drives are as good, or even better overall, in comparison to PPs (not PP2s). I had opportunity to do some pretty decent speeds on the highway, and uh, some pretty indecent speeds on very good and wide side-roads in Trivandrum recently (I was rushing to make time, and pretty much forgot that the car is being run-in). The S-Drives grip the road very well, and cornering is very very confidence-inspiring. The tyre noise is much lesser than the PPs on the highway, both on good roads and not-so-good roads. Right now if I were offered a choice between S-Drives and PPs, I'd pick S-Drives. I bet the S-Drives are 10 to 15% cheaper in comparison too!

I haven't used PP2s at all, so I can't comment on them. I'm sure Michelin must have improved on the PPs a lot when they brought out PP2s.

my bad about the pps. though 60 profile was pp.

and i wrote pp2s by mistake. meant to only write s-drives.
