Hi Bhpians,

I am facing a problem with the tiers on my OHC. She runs Yoko's 205/45/16 and the tire touches :Shockked:the outer wheel arch when the car goes over bumps. I have no idea about the offset setting.
Would appreciate if you guys could let me know the offset setting i should be running. Also if you think there are other causes for the above problem please:do let me know.

Just roll the arches a bit.
Else will have to change the wheels with a different off set.

Guys come on let me know what you think i should be doing to solve the problem. I went to one tyre guy who told me that same thing as iceman91 is suggesting.

What was the stock VTEC's tyre size?

14 inch 185 60 i think

you have no other go my friend..else roll the arches..anyway this is not visible..its from the inside.If you Harden the suspension than you will get a stiff ride.

Then the upsize which he has is the right one. One thing that comes to my mind is suspension. OHC suspension wears out around 50k kms. Once they wear out, they become 'soft' and the body might touch the tyres when the car is loaded because of this.

How many kms has your VTEC done?

Edit: Just saw iceman91's post. Rolling the arches seems to be the best way.

175/65 R14. And the cheapest & most hassle free option is to roll the arches like Iceman has suggested. First try that & if that does not work then get your suspension checked up. If everything else is ok then you might have to change your rims.

Ok i am back!!!

My car has done almost 64K. The suspension is ok, got it checked. So thats ruled out.
Now as far as the offset is concerned, i checked again the arch dosent touch the front tyres. At the back i think it dosent touch the right one. So now i think we have a better situation. (Guess the Tyers and Wheels are just within the limit)

Nitrox was suggesting that the car could(i am not the first owner) have been hit on the rear left and then the body was not re-aligned correctly. Hence it is touching only on one side.

What do you think guys?

Very hard to say without seeing the car/pictures.

16" will touch on any stock honda unless the profile is 40. So the cheapest and best solution is roll the arches.

my profile is 45 and the other 3 tyres are not touching the arch.

Check the shocker on that particular end.

ok i will but the problem seems to be a little different as i explained in post 9.

Could it be that the rear left springs are weaker than the rest and causing a bit more travel under compression.

Have you compared the gap between the tyre and the wheel arch at the rear? See if both wheel arches are equidistant from their respective tyres.

I have chked the gap. springs are ok. The vertical distance of the wheel from the arch is the same. but the horizontal is not.
