How about Bridgestone Dueller (I hope my spelling is correct)? These tires are again oriented towards soft offroading, just like the Pirellis you have right now. My colleague has them on his Forrester and according to him, they are great.

Dueller range(D689 & D684) starts from 15" ....

Adventure stock rims are 5.5 J and accept 195 size without any problem whatsoever.
Yeah correct 5.5j is within the range for 195 size tyres.....the ideal size is 6j though...
Anyways i just wanted to confirm the size of alloys as most of OEM 5j rims with 175 size rubber...
I'd second raghava's suggestion that you go in for the 195/60/R14 Energy XM1's. They're a pretty good set of wheels to drive around on providing excellent grip and comfort. Besides that the 195/75/R14 Hankook size suggested would make it a bit difficult to buy replacements when you have to change just one or two tyres as 195/70/R14 is a more widely constructed size by all major manufacturers.
Iraghava - The Michelins will be my first choice provided I can get them in Madurai and in 195/70R14.
The adventure has 5.5" wide rims so 195 is good to go in this car.
Directinjection, just been busy with marriage, travelling etc.... haven't had much time to sit on my comp - even now I'm in a cybercafe - have to go and by a tft for my machine which I lugged all the way from delhi.
I don't know about Hankook - I would prefer to stay with Michelin/Bridgestone - The stock Pirelli's are nice in the dirt but wear out VERY fast - they were gone by 20k IIRC - have been driving the car in the city only as no one has had the time to get new tyres. Were using the Baleno for highways and long distances.
Bridgestone Duelers would have been a good idea but as kpzen said they start from 15".
While I would like to get LT tyres, I don't think I'd get any in 14"....
I'll have a look at some tyre shops here and enquire.... The car will take a few days to arrive - then it needs servicing and AutoLPG fitment so if even if they have to arrange the tyres from Bangalore or Coimbatore, it won't be an issue.
Lets see what I can find and I'll post here for you folks' views...

You do get LT in 195/14. A lot of the Qualises sport them.

Yes you get the Bridgestone L607 but it is designed for commercial applications & is not a very good tyre for use in an upmaket car like the Adventure. Remember even the high-end RS Qualis's came fitted with Potenza RE88's due to this reason.

I went to Swamy AUto Services - they've quoted a price of Rs 3400/- per tyre - Michelin Energy XM1 195/70R14.
Will be getting the car by Tuesday, tyres will come after servicing.
I think someone from Chennai also caled them up and said that I would be coming ? thanks ...

why arent you going for pirellis itself? One of the adventure owners I met complained a lot about harsh ride when he switched over to Bridgestones.
kvish, My father had checked with Dynamic Auto in Noida who quoted a price of 3300 for the pirellis in 175 section. Wider sizes were not available.
While those tyres are excellent in the dirt as I found out on a trip to Tonk in Rajasthan, on wet roads, they tend to lose a bit of grip. They also tend to wear out too fast. Around 20k, the tyres were gone completely and unsafe to drive, while Michelin's Certis in my Esteem has lasted over 55k IIRC and is still good to go for a few more months. The MXF Sport in my baleno has done 26k without showing any sign of wear. I would like a tyre which can last me at least 30-40 K and I am not looking at any high performance tyre for the palio. While I will be driving along broken roads and dirt tracks as well, it won't be so bad that i would need special offroad tyres like the Pirellis. With FWD , I'm limited as to where all I can go as it is. AWD would have changed the picture !
(Adventure+AWD and a slightly better interior would be my idea of a perfect car)
So if they would come in 195/70 or 195/75 and have a better life I *might* have gone for them again.
