I had already posted on the recomended tyre upsize thread but...
any ways
My car is a 2007 Camry 7th Gen A/T Run appox 45000 kms and the tyres are worn out so im looking for a change..
Please recomend me a tyre suitable..
should i upsize? any good suggestions..
mileage is already pretty bad.. :Frustrati

Whats the OE size? Is your driving style spirited to require extra grip or more sedate and comfortable?

Finally the Camry gets featured in this section! :D

What are the OEM tyres that came ? And is the mileage bad because of the tires (OEM?) or your driving style or the A/T ?

215/60 R16 is the stock size with the OE tyres being Yokohama A348's.

Honest opinion? Then stick to the OEM size and go for either Michelins, Bridgestone or Yokos. You up size more than 2 sizes and you'll face issues with alignment, speedo errors, feel every little bump on the road and other issues with fuel consumption....not a problem when you're a Camry owner. :)

I think you're generalising a bit too much here, correct upsizing can be absolutely trouble free too. Provided you stay within the prescribed tolerances.

Maybe I am...that's why I mentioned an upsizing of 2 or more could lead to issues.

No need to apologise, we all are here to learn so there's no my domain or your domain. If done right, upsizing causes no issues at all. There are lots of people running on 16" & 17" sizes with stock size being 14" and facing no problems. Just that they were careful while upsizing & knew what they were getting into before they took the plunge.

stock alloys are 16 in n no plans on changing em its pretty decent imo. So guys do i or do not upsize..45kms is it decent wear out time? already getting pathetic mileage due to AT need to consider that also
@Sahil when dads not around i do rip a lot on the vehicle..so grip is important i drive a lot on highways From Bangalore to Trichur around 600 kms almost a month the roads are horrible so a combo of grip + confort would be appreciated.
i noticed something wierd recently while driving in very heavy rain all of a sudden there was a sudden pull on the steering to the right..
tyres are close to being bald maybe its the culprit.

Apart from the Yokohama A348's, you can also try Michelin MXV8 or Continental Premium Contact2 XL or Bridgestone Turanza GR 80.

so stock size it is no upsize right...?
shud in jump to 225s from 215s

Thanks Iraghava. My advice was from experience...a OHC upgraded from 175/70 R13 to Falkens 185/60 R14 with original Honda City VTEC alloys that I bought from a friend. A Palio 1.6 GTX (Dad's car) upsized from BS 175/65 R14 to GY 185/60 R14.

Both cars faced huge issues with wheel alignment and the suspension going out of kilter. We went back to stock sizes (OHC had done only 12K on the Falkens) and both cars behaved after that. The suspension in the Palio was jacked by the lower profile tyres. Still havent figured out why 2 cars with only a +1 upsize had issues. Total cost was abt 50K including the OHC VTEC alloys. Reverting to the original sizes was extra

I've been distinctly wary about moving away from stock tyre sizes after that.

Well my OHC has gone on the following upgrades from stock sizes:

185/60 R14 BS Potenza RE88
185/60 R14 GY Eagle F1
185/65 R14 Michelin Energy XM1
195/60 R14 Michelin Pilot Preceda
185/60 R14 Michelin Pilot Preceda

No suspension issues apart from regular wear & tear and few tyre issues, mainly limited to the GY & the last set of Michelin's.

Hard luck.
All i can say is the tires which u got after upsizing weren't great, Falkens and GYs.
There are few ppl out here with OHC and VTEC alloys running without any issue.

Nope, it's available officially through Yoko India but only in that size.
