Team-BHP - Wheel Alignment & Balancing

Mainly uneven wear. Could also be a bent rim. Could be over inflation.

Sometimes, this uneven wear cant be seen with the naked eye.

We had this experience on one of our own cars for the first time after the trackday. Two tyres have a slight jump. You cant actually see any uneven wear on the tread, but mount the tyre on a balancer and you can see a slight, very slight jump.

Now, this is very slight and may not ALWAYS lead to wobbling. But if they are in the front, then there are more chances of having vibrations, etc in your steering wheel.

Thanks Nikhil. The car has done only 5500 kms sofar. There is no bent in both the front rims. Tyre pressure is always at recommnded 36 psi in front and 33 psi in rear. However what is the solution? One of the front tyre is brand new, put on during the five tyre rotation. Is it ok if I interchnge front tyres with rear tyres?

There. That is your problem.

Never put two different worn tyres at the front.

Hi guys,
my car's wheel's balancing weights fell off , the second one in two years,again today this morning.My question,will this affect the tyre in the long run as i am not due for a balancing for the next 8 months or so(i only get them done once a year as my driving is just 2-3k a year).I had them done last in january when i had o/h the front suspension and i have lost the weight again.

It just fell off at parking speeds thankfully in my compound.i shudder to think what would have happened had it been caught in the wheels whilst driving.I have Neo alloys on my car (800) and i have noticed the weights have fallen only afer switching to the alloys.Never had such a issue with the steel rims.

Nothing would have happened if they had hit your wheels. Think about it. Are you always worried about hitting a small stone or pebble? No right? Same case here.

Weights shouldnt fall off so soon. Either old, used weights were used or the weights werent clamped properly.

Very true,actually the 1st time the weight came off it was sort just hanging on the wheel partly.The weight actually is stuck to the wheel using some sort of adhesive instead of being clamped on probably why they are coming off.Wonder if anyone else have the same problem.

Well, the adhesive is very strong.

My suspicion is still that the weights are old used weights. Obviously, the adhesive will not be strong once you remove it and reuse the weight.

Or maybe the guy fitting the weights isnt putting enough pressure on the weights to make sure they stick properly.

IS it true that in cars with independent suspension both front and rear wheel alignment is needed? When i was getting alignment done for my baleno the guy doing it told there is no 'nut' to adjust in the rear and he said he's checked the camber. I couldn't make much sense of it. My tyres have irregular wear and I am afraid it may be due to this reason. Can someone tell if baleno needs wheel alignment for both front and rear or not?

@Rock75 --- It has nothing to do with independent suspension. It depends on whether there is an adjustable setting available for the rear suspension or not. Most cars dont come with adjustable rear suspension.

@Guptavis --- For the City ZX, only front Toe is possible.
