I actualy am pretty happy with my Vtec's road grip and fuel efficiency and the tire drag its producing right now but was just wondering if I could increase the drivability further by upgrading just the tires. Currently Im running on 185/60 on 14'' stock alloys. What would be the best upgrade without compromising on current performance figures?? Also, can I upgrade the tire on the same wheel and without meddling with suspension height??

What tyres are you using? Ideal upgrade for Vtec was 195/60, I thought.

You may want to consider getting better tyres in the same size...

Hunt for my review on goodyear NCT's on the Vtec

I've got 195/60 R14 Potenza GIIIs on our Vtec. They're damn good.

I ve got 185/60 R14 Michellin Certis(Imported)...
Hey Shan2nu, did you make any suspension tweaking coz I guess the 195's would touch the suspension spring in the rear?? and are you using stock alloys??

Nope, no suspenssion mods needed. The tyres don't touch any part of the suspenssion. Yup, i'm on stock alloys.

Hey thanks mate...will surely consider the upgrade you have mentioned...Im currently getting an average of 13-14kmpl with aircon within city...what bout you?? And dont you think potenzas are noisy?? I did, hence changed to Mich Certis...

The stock alloys on the city if I am right are 5.5 x 14 and the max tyre width you could do on a 5.5 is 195. One of my friend had 195/60 14 on his ex- Super Vtec and he didnt have problems on it. Maybe your FE could come down just a wee bit. He didnt care about his FE though!

You could try Yokohama es100 (great looks, quite) Falken ST115 (very quite tyre, less life), Dunlop Formula 901 (noisy, great looks, good life). All of them are nice tyres and uni directional.

Well, i really don't do much of City driving on the Vtec but yeah, i've seen the car give 14.5 kmpl once. On an average, i'd say 10-12kmpl would be a more realistic figure.

On the highways i get between 16 and 21kmpl (depending on how you drive the car).

I haven't found the Potenza's to be noisy at all (except when i drive the car on concrete roads, which i guess is a common problem with all tyres).

Here's a link to my review on the GIIIs - Potenza GIII

They shoud cost around 3500rs. for 195/60 r14. Only tubeless dude. Though they can be used with a tube but why would you want to do that?!

What abt Eagle F1's? Look great and provide nice grip.

Yokohama ES 100 is the best bet. Your ex Michelins are damn good too. And your FE is amazing. Why don't you stick with them?

Yokos between 3.1-3.5 thousand.

To be frank Im wana upgrade a lil for enhanced handling and lotz for looks...but I think Im acting funny here as this looks affair will blow away my amazing mileage!!! What you got on your ride??

Goodyear Ducaros. 185/70 R13. Directional treads, but not glamourous like the Yokos or Eagles. They're decent in the wet, but they grip like leeches in the wet. And I get 15kmpl.
