You mean MIRROR- have been lucky to get just one of these!
Hence the idea of fitting it on the door instead of the bonnet as UK Heralds normally had. Heralds in other countries like US, which were LHD, however, had a single mirror on the driver's door (in their case left) like this.

All the more happy to see my Herald 'CAN' captured in it's full grace and finery!

'had actually reached a bit late thanks to a heavy traffic jam that seemed for ages in most parts of Secunderabad (collected my car from my local garage where it was in for some minor work the last 2 days) due to the visit of a Political dignitary for an R-day function at Parade Grounds. I was even told that there were plans to wrap up the show early so was real tensed all the way to the show!

But fortunately(?) turned out I wasnt the only one. We even had the Chief Guest turning up past 1pm, so the show was extended but I was happy to hang around right until the end nevertheless...was tired but still elated!

Best part for CAN is that she happened to have company today- meet Mr. Renolds and his 1965 mk1 Herald (white), whom I had invited for today's show.

Also a tidy car with a couple of original bits missing, which I gave him today. Coincidentally, he too is the 2nd owner of his car, and as in my case, his car too was re-registered in 1990 by the previous owner who had also been in Bangalore for a while before returning to Hyd!

All the merrier that we were joined by another Standard- a very nice Companion. Good to see Standards participating in the local events here! 'hope there more to come in future.

And tbhpian Suren's '57 Fiat (AHO 6050) had turned up but not suren! :( 'turns out he is out of town now.

'nuff said! So here they are, starting with the cars:

Continued in my next post...
Hey Shyam.. CAN is looking really beautiful.. Dont want to sound partial here but red shine on CAN is kind of overshadowing the adjecent white herald.. Looks like you have a special stock of genuine accessories preserved for displays like this..

I echo Ravi's comment on Citroen, this for me is the pick of the show, all other we see them here or there, but that panel Van is a rarity and should deserve a proper attention, give some period pastel shades and she will look damn awesome. Convey our good wishes to the owner of such a beauty.

Was this Austin 10 restored in Kolkata
Jokes apart, Carl Zeiss Jena did make automobile lenses, if not the complete headlight. One 500K Mercedes in India is fitted with these, as was a Rolls which now resides in Indore. These lights were indeed fitted on cars including Lancia Lambda. And yes, these are connected to the optical lenses company, not only cameras but microscopes etc.
But these lights were not meant for this small car, meant for far larger cars where the proportions would also match. The car needs to be cleaned of the mascot, those 'A' wings, side carbide lights, and so much more of that bling.
The event had a good turnout, sadly the more upper level cars are all absent. The public seems to have taken to the cars.

Cheers harit
