Today in the morning Jaipur will witness the "Rajputana Automotive & Sports Club rally. Ever heard of them before? I haven till I saw this advert in DNA shown below. This is supposed to be their 15th rally, maybe earlier rallies were held in another avtar. The event is supported by RTDC, Rajasthan Tourism.



The ad says that they are to "Preserve" the Heritage of cars in Rajasthan.
Seems that they are referring to the office bearers of the club as examples of Rajasthani heritage as other cars and collectors are not seen. I was told that there is some flamboyance in the form of the Minister of Tourism in a Ferrari of the 80's, atleast they could have shown some of the Jaipur XK 120's, there are atleast 3 of them there.

In the family album, if you look closely, you will see generations of club officials + sons and/or family members posing more in modern cars. There seems to be some rivalry in the heritage automotive movement in Rajasthan. It appears that many collectors – people with not only worthier cars in terms of quality and rarity of marquee, but whose restoration standards are impeccable have (been?) kept away.

There are to be three judges from our surrounding area of Mumbai and Pune. One is known for entering his own cars and awarding himself prizes, the second is a real networker, and the third guy is a restorer. I hope that they will communicate with each other when they evaluate the entries. Earlier only one person was called, now by inviting three judges the game seems to be on a more even keel.

I believe that there are some entries from Delhi, 22 cars and 10 bikes. That seems to be a lot, t-bhpian Shivraj is going and hope he takes lots of pictures and gives a nice report.

Slight confusion Harit. I'm not going for the rally as I'm travelling but i know of a few attending from Delhi.

But yes i hope we do see some photos from the rally soon..

The event is on going, and no news, not even pictures.

So, lets again guess prizes. How about a Caddy for concourse? Or a muscular Torino to get an award? Last time it was a Silver Wraith.

They did not come due to some restorer and his tiff with the club. That's what I was told and that is what I saw as many beautiful cars other than what appeared did not come.
