Standards at the show! The companion was a genuine entry.

Two heralds were present, the red one was better of the the two, while, the second one, i reserve for the junk thread.

'agree about the other Herald (though it is worth appreciating that atleast these cars are being seen at the rallies) but the red Herald too has gone through a few 'changes' like the add-on indicators, fiat rims(!) plus the odd soft-top and lack of quarter-glasses, but yes it is certainly the more 'unmolested' (for lack of a better term!) of the two! 'wonder if it was a 'jaanavasam' car since it happens to be from Madras?

The companion seems to be the best of the lot, looks very original. The side-trims could be borrowed from a Super 10 and the running board ones from a Pennant. If you know the owner, you know who could help him with a 'Standard' badge for the rear!

The Duo from the armed forces.

The dodge sported original wheels in the last event, wonder why they changed to alloys! Also, the tail light on the merc looks like its been changed. Experts can throw some light here.

Off roaders were represented by several Jeeps, mainly CJ-3Bs, and low Bonnets in various combinations, LHD+Petrol, RHD+ Petrol, RHD+Diesel, LHD+Diesel etc

The prize, strangely went to a low bonnet with a diesel engine, despite there being many more original Jeeps around.

The Willys station wagon provided much needed colour relief from the duller colours of the shorter jeeps!

The Russian YAZ is a regular entrant to this rally, and belongs to the main organizer.

Fiats were in plenty at the show. Mainly Selects and super selects.

-There were some good cars, and many with lots of mods such as bucket seats and floorshift!

-For a moment, i thought someone entered Amol's elegant in the show, but turned out to be its identical twin.

-Check out the window shade accessory on the black Select

-The lone Bug Fiat was not in the prime of health, but even then, managed to bag the award!

-Surprising to see that not a single Millecento was entered

Not an expert but the merc. tail-lamps do look non-original to me as well.

As for the Plymouth, its an unforgivable sacrilege!!

To think, twas done by the Army! 'wonder why! Original tyres not being available?

Thanks for posting the pictures.I am sure that the real tail lamp assembly of the Mercedes is not the original one.I only wish the Army could find an original assembly which is not so difficult to source

That isn't an accessory. That came as an original fitment in some Selects. I think the black Select is the best preserved car of the whole lot - original hubcaps, original indicators, etc.

I'm guessing the tail lamps either got stolen or damaged beyond repair. And the reason why they have been replaced with non-original lamps is simple, new Mercedes tail lamp units are hugely expensive (not that other parts are cheap) and maybe they've not tried hard enough to source used pieces.
