Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Got a last minute invite through a chennai enthusiast so I managed to attend the show. Stunning venue, possibly the best in India so far for the Cartier shows. The Nizam's Wolsely has probably graced the forecourt again after a 100 years ! I don't think the throne car ever made it to Falaknuma in its life so this was a first too, to my knowledge. Mahbub Ali pasha used the Napiers and the Wolsely so those cars would have frequented Falaknuma. His son used it only twice I think once on his return from the durbar at Delhi and during his silver jubilee celebrations. I have seen no pictures or heard of no other occasion when this car was used. The hukumchand Daimler would have looked perfect in a Disney world setting. The gold paint makes it look gaudy to say the least. A special car it is and how I wish it was in a classic black or deep maroon. Honestly, not a single car there had me drooling. A good selection of cars but nothing spectacular. i think I spent more time admiring Viveck Goenka's restorations than being taken up by any car. His paint and chrome are top notch and an amazing feat. I liked his Edsel the most. Perfect colour and finish. I had trouble liking the colour of the cord and the road master and the land master looked over restored for what it might have been from the showroom. Hats off to his team. Catching up with old friends and making new ones is always a treat of such shows. It was my wife's first outing to a classic car event and she loved the ambience. The politics aside the Cartier show is a great experience. I would have loved to see the stunning cabriolet of Bulldogji make a home coming appearance after its recent restoration. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I must mention that the Bristol resurrection was a jaw dropping effort and truly commendable restoration. It's just so heartening to see such talent here in India. Would have liked to see a colour closer to the original choices on the Bristol. Well deserved award. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() I consider myself fortunate enough to get a chance - my first ever - to the Cartier, particularly this being in Hyderabad where I live! Was also great meeting some tbhpians from different parts of the country in this event! Thought I'd post my share of the pics thpugh they may not have been the best in photography; also my phone battery was going consistently weak so just clicked as many as I could. Starting with the cars. I guess quite a lot has been said about some of the most prominent ones in this event so nothing much to add. Unfortunately some of the pics exceeding the specified size limit could not get uploaded but will try resizing them from my PC later! More to follow....! Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry about the delay - decided to resize all the pics that I could before trying to upload them here. Rest of the car pics. A couple more left but reached the maximum upload limit of 30 pics for this post! |
