Salutations to the owner/driver who keep the beauty on duty and alive and kicking despite the hassles.

Ok a small clarification - its not a cool cab. Its quite an old post and since at that time there were only cool cabs painted in these colors, the thread was named such.

Will edit and change the name to something more appropriate- If someone could help identify the cars on this thread.

Thanks :)

Obviously that is no cool cab - it is a 1951 (?) Cranbrook that used to be single tone blue earlier, owned by a Jewish family in Pune I'm told. Then went to Bombay to a collector, and now in another collection. Really original car.

Thread title changed accordingly.

Since we are discussing Cranbrooks (very good looking in my opinion), here is another Cranbrook I had posted earlier, in the Andamans.

And a neat Savoy in Bombay.

Here are some more cars seen over the last few years.

This massive Fury attended an event in Pune.

A wagon I had seen some years back in Pune. Dieselised.

Another dieselised wagon spotted in Pune, used in some shooting.

These two cars attended a recent event in Pune. The convertible is still with the royal family first owners.

I dont know if my observation is correct, the headlights of the PLYMOUTH looks very much similar to the euro VW headlights(post 68)

Came across this classic parked at Kuruppamthara on the Ernakulam-Kottayam road, today morning. Well maintained and a nice one though my pic spoiled the looks.

That is a 1955 Chrysler Corp Car, in all probability a Dodge Kingsway or a Plymouth Savoy

Strangely I notice more than 50% of the classics photo'd in Kerala are brought from Madras, with their Madras (MS) numbers still intact! Has this always been the case or a recent occurrence?

it is a recent occurence and especially with classic/old cars. These guys dont prefer to change the registration for any/all of the following reasons.
1.you will get the new type of registration numbers(KL-01) which looks odd on old cars.
2.the hurdles involved in getting an NOC
3.Many of these cars may have had tax arrears, fitness due,etc which may be done only after restoration and for that the car has to be physically taken to the RTO where it has been last registered

A reader has written in with the following query, can someone help out please?

Dear Sir,

I have a 1956 Plymouth Savoy with engine no. P28PA1913 and chassis number 14226390, can you please let me know whether it is made in India or not?

Waiting for your reply.

Thank you.

Hi Karl. any pics of this car or perhaps the name of the "reader" ? If the car in question is RHD then it would most likely be Indian. A pic of the makers plate would provide the correct answer for sure !

And what exactly is a "reader" anyway ?

I do not have any more details, just what I have posted earlier.

A "reader" is one who reads a paper, magazine, or in this case the forum, and writes in with a query regarding his car. What am I missing here?
