Also lets not forget mentioning the heralds- the red & black tatty one (MRY 5808) in Pati patni aur woh, the equally tatty blue one in Golmaal (amol palekar), plus the much better ones, mostly used "topless" in older films...!

Yes Stanher I saw the movie Teesri Manzil clippings and took a picture or two-will post these soon. Indeed its a very light green (not ice white as I said earlier) Ambassador Mark I as you rightly said. agree:

Did anyone mention "Agneepath" :) I have the original DVD so here are a few screen shots:

The Opel of Kanchi Cheena (note the hand-written number plates!)

And finally the beautiful Merc! Note the ghastly purple plastic visor on the wind shield!

More pics including those of a Camaro & a Herald later!

MMD 705 is too small to be a Caddy convertible.
It's a proper 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible.

Very often for a movie shoot the cars are given bogus numbers. Since the number plate is required only for a couple of shots, most of the time they do not bother even to paint it on neatly.:)

Another great car movie of yore was "Waqt". Besides this regal looking Buick (?), there was a superb race sequence between an Austin Healey Sprite and a Fiat 1100/1200 Spyder, probably shot on the old Bombay Poona road.

Here are a few pictures of the Ambassador that Shammi Kapoor drives in Teesri Manzil!

lol:

Here are a couple of interesting scenes from Seeta Aur Geeta.

The first car appears to be a grand Lincoln convertible. In this scene Manorama is chasing Hema Malini with the help of some cops after she grabbed onto a tree jumping out of the car.:)

Here Sanjeev Kumar runs into a stereotypical Bawajee and his Austin and family.

This memorable scene is from Shaan (1980) starring Amitabh and Shashi Kapoor. The scene shows a gorgeous 911 Targa which they were duped into buying. This same car later went to Vijay Mallya and suffered a major accident. It is now being restored (in other hands) Im told.

Nokia N82 Zindabad!:)

Karl if i believe right the 911 car was bought by Thakkars and was crashed n later bought by Mallya. It was for sale in the crashed condition and no one wanted to buy it due to the high price asked.
This also could be the ex Dubash 911.i forget now whether this car was a targa or hardtop.

It is indeed the same car which was with Thakker, I have seen it there post damage. I dont know who had it first.

i myself dont remember who owned it first. it was between the two of them. i know it stood in one corner in their basement (had my eye on the car for a while) and now i think it is sold or it still stands there.

Yes. Thats a Buick Skylark.

Dubash's Bungalow used to have quite a few good cars parked in it. My grandmothers house in Napean Sea road kinda overlooks it. I remember using binoculars to look at the cars. I have never seen the Porsche though. I have on an occasion seen a Ferrari.

My mistake, the car in question is a 58 Buick.

This 911 targa, was a 1976, owned/brought in by a lady at American consulate in 1977, used to be parked at Washington house, altamont road. In 1981 got sold thru STC Bombay to Bagla, His bid was 6.99lacs and mine was 6.25lacs. I was eying this car from the day it arrived, and the day I lost out at the tender was the saddest day for me.
Then it changed few hands at around 10lacs, and finally went to Mr. Mallya, who crashed it on the bangalore mysore highway. Then Was available with the engine and gearbox out. Finally as youll say was with Thakkars.

Trishul was another movie which had a lot of flashy cars.
Was it a Herald in which Sachin and Poonam Dhillon sing the song 'Gapuchi Gapuchi'?
