Hot of the press : Great Arc Rally 2009 (Kochi to Mussorrie)

Rally of Classic Cars from Kochi to Mussorrie...following the footsteps of the great arc survey done by William Lambton and George Everest in the early 1800's.
Here are some pictures of the cars assembled at Hotel Casino,Willingdon Island, Kochi this evening for a press briefing and a traditional Pooja for the cars and participants.The Rally will be flagged of on Feb 6th 2009.
A total of 20 cars were to participate, but thats been reduced to 11.The cars presented to the press were a Mercedes (Pagoda 280SL,Bentley,Jaguar XK150,Lagonda, two Volvos,MGB and a Landrover Defender as a backup vehicle.A few more cars are awaiting customs clearance.

Is this a book/novel or can we also read on line, some site or so? Please advise, would like to read and get to know the route. A friend of mine claims to have seen the black Bentley in Nagpur a few days ago, and it was going great guns.

The book is not online AFAIK. But lot of bookshops keep Keay's novel and they are bunch of good reads if any one is interested in knwoing about explorations in and around Indian subcontinent. Keay's and Hopkirk are two writers who have written a lot about english discover of overland route beyond Himalaya's.
Any further news on this event?

Few days before the great-arc had its stop at night in hyderabad at Taj Krishna hotel.
I didn't go as i was busy with my exams but some of my friends visited Taj to have a look at these beauties.
Will try to get the pics an upload them.
