Just received an email in "BLACK & WHITE" that the event is confirmed for 28th March 2010.

Now, Harit, you better start putting together your "Armor Alls and Turtle waxes" etc.

A very small, and possibly silly question..
Why, but why does the VCCCI have its event in sweltering March ? Can one not plan well in advance, and have it in cool January ? And not keep postponing it time and again ?
Also, there is such less publicity, in fact when I was not on team-bhp, and didn't know enough people to get an update, I would often actually MISS the rally. Have missed it at least thrice because of lack of publicity.

In my humble opinion, an event of this stature must be given so much publicity, that we should have people lining the streets to watch the grand old ladies in action. Look at how they do such events in the UK or the USA. I mean, not that I'm comparing, but can we not have better awarenes, and thereby create interest in these wonderful machines ?

As the rally comes closer, here is another clipping I came across about a similar event in Pune, I think April 30th or so, 2000. We participated (and won) in a 1930 Chevrolet (incorrectly mentioned as 1928) owned since new by the Bandsa royal family.

Apparently the VCCCI Rally has been postponed again, to middle of April. Wow, and it is already getting hot. And exams will be over, lot of people will go on holidays.
Somewhere it was mentioned that, among the reasons for delay is that a sponsor is not yet ready with his project opening, he wanted to somehow link the two, the rally and his project. But in that case we should have had two separate events, the rally in Jan-Feb and this event whenever.

And when will Pune have its event? Don't even ask.

Cheers harit

Too bad, Its already extremely hot. I am not sure there will be too many takers for the actual rally most people I know are saying they will just display in the morning and leave.

It's been postponed to the 4th of April. this is getting ridiculous. next year we should have our own Team-BHP Mumbai classic car meet or something in January when it's not so hot.

I heard from a "Reliable source" its on the 11th April. Same old nonsense. I ask you why not Jan-Feb where both the car as well as the occupants can be spared the heat?

Today I sent in the forms for the "Rally". My man was promptly told to bring the fees. Just imagine the guys who filled forms and paid fees in Jan/Feb And as one can see above, date of the event is still not certain.

Moral of the story. Submit your form, and bring your participation fees to the event and hand over when you collect your competition number.

Question about the fees, why are not ALL participants charged these fees? Since this is a club, governed by rules, and not an individually owned enterprise, there should be no discrimination.

Cheers harit
