Has anyone attempted in making a trailer for carrying one car? These are about 16 feet x 6 feet. These are also known as car haulers. I want to build one and I am looking for some assistance

Are they legal in India? You will need to endorse it separately on an RC and AFAIK they need some road tax to be paid too with some specifications outlined regarding its dimensions.

Is this for a one time haul or do you intent to use it frequently?

If you are going to use it frequently get something like this:

Picked from another thread on here.

According to my limited knowledge, such trailers are not easily registered, and they have to be.
I have rarely seen such trailers in India, and when I did they were used by the motorsport fraternity. I am sure that some sort of type test/validation would have to be done. And that again will incur costs.
I feel a truck as Spitfire has posted is the solution.

Cheers harit

Mr. Ananth the most efficient would be the trucks used by Mondial which has the sliding bed and winch. The quality in workmanship is on par with anything from abroad. You could order one with an enclosed body. I think the company that makes the trucks for Mondial recovery is MGS

Well can you explain this with some more pics please. Is it going to be a trailer that will be attached to a car or a truck modified and made into on of the haulers?

I am not sure about getting the registration of such a vehicle but the trailers which are attached behind a tractor or a jeep are registered in calcutta but on the other hand they are not registered here in delhi. So you need to find out with your local RTO their.

MGS has started to advertise in car magazines. Will try to fish out the address for you. I am very impressed by the quality of their work and design for recovery trucks made for Mondial Assistance

@ Mr Ananth: You have an admirable or shall I say enviable collection of cars. I did some search & out of all I like this manufacturer of low bed trailers. Dont know if it will suit your need but I thought of including my two cents.
Low Bed Trailers,High Bed Trailers,Semi Low Bed Trailers,High Bed Automotive Trailers,India

With warm regards,
