If my check turns out good, then I will get this checked by 4wheelsanalysis, a startup in Pune, who performs checks on used cars. Will also check with Talera ford for the service history. If all is good, only then will get it home.

Will keep this post updated.

Thanks again for all the opinions!
Update

I checked out the car today. On first inspection everything looked great. The car sounded great, rode great and drove well. AC was in perfect shape and so were most of the functions (steering mounted buttons, mirror adjust and fold, footwell lamps, puddle lamps, music system, keyless entry/exit etc.)

Engine bay looked clean and OK in terms of no damage being done. So were the side doors (checked for spot welding).

Service history-
I enquired at Ford and they mentioned the car was last serviced at authorised SVC in July 2024, and prior to that in Nov 2023 at the specified 10K interval. There was one insurance claim in Jan 2024 where both the front headlamps were replaced.

Negatives-

1) Front fog lamps were not working.
2) Antenna stick was broken/dismounted?
3) Clutch was HARD! Almost thrice as hard as my dad's petrol MT fronx.
4) Front windshield has a 2 cm disfigurement. Dealer has agreed to repair it. 5) There was a small underseat storage tray beneath the driver seat, which was dislodged. Need to get it fixed, I am not sure where it is generally kept.

Price- Dealer is not budging below 3.3L.

Next steps-
I plan to take it to nearby PPS ford and get the car thoroughly checked for accidental history/ and mechanical functioning.

Price- Dealer has maintained that 3.3L is the last price.

Will update again after 1-2 days.

Considering the negatives and the relatively high price for an 11-year-old car which doesn't sell well in the used car market, I would suggest you back away, the car has been in an accident too, it's not worth the money spent. You would be better off spending your money elsewhere.

You may have to settle for a car that is not engaging or may have to shell out more to get one that fulfils your requirements, but that is always better than getting a car with issues (fog lamps, windshield, broken antenna, hard clutch etc). The dealer is insistent at 3.3 lakhs understanding your seriousness and interest in the car, of course, he won't budge.

I am sure he would come back to you, if you quote a lower price and don't get back to him after a week, as with these issues, no one would buy this car off of him for 3.3 lakhs and you shouldn't too.

I have seen that you are insistent on Ford, but be careful and tread cautiously as even if it is for 2 years or so, maintenance and issues may crop up and you may regret it.

This is an accident car. I would strongly suggest against it, no matter how low the offer price gets. Look at a different example somewhere. I'm sure Fords are not that hard to find these days.

Re: Which used car to buy for 7 lakhs?

Knowing me, you know my answer. I've been owning EcoSport for 7 years now and I find it very very difficult to replace my EcoSport, rather I've been spending on enhancing the car as per current market needs and in the process reverse aging the car. And as a few people mentioned, once you get used to a Ford it is very difficult to switch to a different brand. It's akin to using an iPhone for a long time.

However, regarding your previous black S, I'd suggest to stay away from it unless you get it for below 5L considering depreciation due to ownership change and you'll be the 4th owner.

Parts wise, Ford will provide support till 2031 and post that we can import parts as well.

I've been crazy enough to help friends pick we'll kept EcoSports all the way from the north or east(you'll get a good T+ or S which are first owner vehicles for 5-6L) and with petrol I know the pain, each time when you fill petrol you'll feel like I'm spending a lot on fuel. A car is an asset which gives you freedom and worrying about filling fuel should be a less of a concern and more of a value add. So I'd suggest to pick a diesel itself, tune the car and enjoy it for the next 10 years. You hardly get soulful cars like these now.

The other option I can think of is a Jeep compass diesel MT.

Good luck in your car hunt.

Ecosport 2017 facelift and later (Dragon petrol MT/AT, Diesel Manual), Global Fiesta TDCI (2014 facelift), Renault Duster 85 PS MT (2013 and later), Maruti S Cross (1.6 if available, else 1.3 DDIS, either prefacelift or facelift is fine)[/quote]

The best all rounder and driver's choice among tge listed cars of yours is S cross 1.6 - have owned two of them and currently having one of them in garage - the drive experience is whole different level. Its a true cross over with the benefits of both world - good ground clearamce and excellent handling and best part - 320 nm of torque - torque monster indeed. Only gripe in this choice will be the difficulty to source parts.

The car which you can blindly buy in the list of yours is corolla altis - but make sure you get it tuned to stage 1+ after you get your hands on to one.

Last Update I didn't go for the checkup with Ford. I was browsing OLX and I could see some diesel Figo/Aspire at 3.85L or so. If I wait till November, I could those cars at around same price I am getting the Fiesta. These are also a couple of years younger, thereby probably in better shape. I might also consider the Freestyle/Ecosport at around same time.

Hence dropping the Fiesta and would wait till November again to make a move.

Thanks all for your inputs.

Good to see that you have finally made the right choice, there are quite a lot of Fords available in the used car market and a quick browse on OLX, Facebook marketplace, Spinny, Cars24 and the likes is all it takes, there are many cars with diesel, petrol engines having low running as well, so it is best to wait it out.

Could you share where did you find your Camry? Im in the market for similar budget and due to NCR rules need to replace my SX4 within next one year. Looking for a reliable used car in 5-7L range to use for 2-4 years.

Thanks

Sure, I bought it from Motorman in DLF Phase 2, Gurgaon.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/cqf81en1BwpG...s.preview.copy

Managers name is Shalini- +91 9811558116

Keep in mind prices are very negotiable, they had listed it 8.9L. We finally closed at 6.8L. Use the dealer inspection report and any minor wear and tear issues you find to knock the price down.

But despite the lower but not the lowest voting, I would suggest you to go for the Ecosport of yours as the nth owner.

Final Update

So I came across a well maintained Ecosport S Ecoboost. 43K on the odo, Nov 2018 and first owner. I reached out to the first owner and he has given a flying recommendation about the car. The dealer also has all the service records (Last service completed by owner in early March this year). The quoted price is 5.55 L, and I hope to close around 5.2 or so. The first owner claims that he sold the car to dealer at 4.25L. The MID screen had gone kaput which costs about 25K in Ford to replace. The dealer claims to fixed that one.

I have requested the dealer to get the car home today, and if all goes well should finalize the deal this week. Thank you all for the assistance!

A 5.2 lakh price seems fair for a 7-year-old car that hasn't run much. I hope everything works out well.

My dilemma has ended and I got the above quoted Ecosport S ! Very happy as of now, she still looks gorgeous and straight out of the factory. People that I know (laymen in automotive terms) mistook it for a brand new car.

I also got the UK cluster installed and the MID now looks extremely beautiful and information laden.

Initial ownership report coming soon.

I'm glad you finally got what you were looking for: a Petrol EcoSport S. I see you had earlier owned a Diesel EcoSport S, that too a 2018 one, hopefully you remain satisfied with the Petrol just as you were with the Diesel.
