Maruti Suzuki has achieved a new production milestone. The carmaker has become the first Indian company to achieve a cumulative production of over 2.5 crore units.

Maruti Suzuki began operations at its first production facility in Gurugram in 1983. Since then, the company has expanded its operations to Manesar. Both facilities have a combined capacity of 15 lakh units per annum.

The brand has come a long way since the days of the M800. Today, it produces 16 models, sold via two retail channels – Arena and Nexa. The carmaker also exports to around 100 markets worldwide.

2022 also marks the 40th anniversary of Suzuki in India. The company is now working on setting up a new manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda in Haryana.
