Actually why I started this thread was because when I spoke to B&T, he mentioned that a sub, without a 6x9 would be more suitable in a budget setup without rear passengers.

Then I heard Bhagwan's setup in the i-10 and was convinced that 6x9 is jut a rear fill, and can be done away with, as per my listening preference.

@Ajay, any setups in Mumbai that you can direct me to, which have a similar setup as the one I have envisaged?

@nitrous - How much will Ground Zero 8 gauge wiring kit+extra RCA cost?

Also wanted to know whether I would need damping in my planned setup? If yes, where all? (Boot? Front doors?) How much will this cost me?

Hmm, then maybe a setup with Pio/Kenwood HU + Electra 6.1 + JBL CS1204B (or any other sealed box sub), but no 6x9s?

Sir, Damping is very very important.

It is needed in all set ups.
Entry level to mid fi etc. High Fi, I have not installed so cannot comment on it;

You will have to damp your A & B Pillars & Front Doors [3 times] & Boot [if you plan to use a sub]
Minimum budget is Rs. 7.5/- K
This has to be done.

Maybe you can try Zohir's accent in boom that has EL6.1, 6*9s AND a GZ sub in seled box.
im not sure but he would be able to decrease the fader to 0 for the rears so that all you would hear is the EL6.1 and the sealed sub.
However note that he has an accent and not a typical hatchback

not sure about the above info but i think Ajay would know

Need advise/prices

Hi guys,

Could someone advise about the availability and prices for the following gear:

- Amp - JBL GT-A604 / Kenwood 8404/ Blaupunkt GTA4 Special (which one of these 3 to drive Illusion Electra 6.1 and either of the below mentioned subs?)

- Sealed subwoofer - Blaupunkt GT1200B or JBL GT 4/5-12 (which one is more VFM and better to drive out of the above amps?)

I spoke to a few installers and get different answers regarding prices / availability. If someone could confirm firm prices, it would be highly appreciated!

The balupunkt sealed box woofer is a little difficult to source in the grey market so you might have to pay close to 6850rs with bill for it
The GT5 - 12 (only woofer would cost about 2800-3200rs w/o bill)
the GT4 12 i,e CS1204 is about 2500-2800rs without
the CS1204B (not sure of the exact model) but its got the GT4-12 in the sealed box by JBL costs about the same as the blaupunkt.

It is not very easy to source without bill. Though i did get a quote for it for 4250rs ( i didnt see what he was offering me though,he just said 12 inch woofer in a selaed box by JBL)

The Gt4 special is 6600rs with bill and discount.Behind Avantika Gokhle rd on the main road in Blaupunkt showroom

KAC 8401 was about 5000rs without Bill(due its demand and unavailibilty) i think the 8404 should be more or less in that range too

As for which amp would drive which sub : well all the amp specifications and sub specifiation are alomost the same so im guessing all will work the same, However as many have said that the sealed box woofer can be driven by bridging 60*2 rms but would be happier with more power

the gurus here would be able to guide you better

My current setup is:

1. Boston S60 6.5" compos (upfront)
2. JBL GT5 6.5" co-axials (rear parcel shelf)
3. JBL 12" Bass Tube (trunk)
4. JBL GT5 604 amp (powering compos & bass tube)

HU is not worth mentioning (Stock Nippon unit provided by Maruti in Dzire) The amp is very well built and also beautiful. Though, not being able to not work it up to its potential due to limitations of the HU.
