Okie so i have completed the setup...

its sony 504z amp
pioneer 1340, 13cm front
ts20, front
and a 6991 rear.

I have one problem with this setup though. When i kept the volume at "1", there a noticable "hizzz" sound. As the volume increases, this dosnt disapear, but is less pronounced due to the increase in music volume.
Any idea on who could be the source for this "hizz"??? And how to elimnate this??

The head unit has remanined unchagned. And earlier i am not sure this hizzing existed or not...

Thanks,
GK

If it is a whine - you need a suppressor to be added

The damage with the boss wiring kit is 16k. Brought it in JC road. Got it fitted in sundaram. They charged 1.5k for fitting.

the whine could be because the RCA cables and the power cable for the amp are lying nearby. Happens in many installs. You will have to move the RCA cables away from the amp and mount the amp on rubber inserts. The earth for the amp should preferebbly be given seperately.

Or you can go for a filter which would supress the noise.

1. does the tone change when you rev the car? if so it is alternator whine.
2. does it sound like the hiss you get in the days of tape? if so your tweeter XO might be to blame.

please describe the complete nature of the hiss and when it occurs or any changes in tone and volume.

Well its like this...
When the volume is at zero, there silence. Nothhing to be heard.
When the volume is at one, this hizz apears. With the music volume very much muted but audible.
When the volume is increased one step at a time, the music volume too increases, but the hizz volume remains at the same level. After 4,5 level of volume, the hizz even though its still present, is not audible as its completly overvelmed by the music volume.

I have tried 2,3 CDs, both mp3 and audio. Its the same.

check all ground loops. you never know what they pick up. do you get any noises in our speaker when you operate the horn, power windows, etc.

what is the nature of the hisss. does it sound like a motor boat or like th hiss of audio tape (pre dolby)?

my guess is the hiss in only from the front. check that. if so the tweeter Xo maybe to blame.
if the hiss is n all 4 spekaers you got a bum amp. get your dealer to check you amp by installing in another amp for testing and checking your amp in another known good install.

@ ajmat: anytime

I had the same problem in the uno also. Some one on sounddomain forum suggested that i should try moving the RCAs away from the power line.
