Ramie, i know you install so you will know more than me.

i find that in a car with the midbass usually at knee locations and the HF unit usually so much closer to the ear (OVRM pod or high on the door or even dash) that going for a traditional 2 way (5-6" woofer + dome tweeter) leaves a lot of gaps.

I am prefering to use a woofer mated to a fullrange and crossover at say 300hz or so. The wavelength is 10x longer and hence integration of midbass to fulrange is smoother. Only disadvantage of this method is that one needs to go active (unless one build a custom passive crossover).

CMS/Ramie, what are your experiences and point of view?

I only broached this topic right now because HAT makes some nice fullrange drivers (L4Se, L3Se etc..) sorry for going OT on your thread CMS.

Lets see, I will start the build once i have some spare time. But the advantage is that the bandwidth can be adjusted based on the width of the horn path. So i will be planning for a horn width of ~10-12". BTW, to me, a well designed horn is any day better than any sealed/ported/TLs for music with bandwidth around low mid bass crossed somewhere ~60-75Hz.

Ramie, Can you elaborate on the installation method in duster without cutting the panel braces? I tried all the possible ways.

BTW, there is no panel leaks as of now. I had used some left over neoprene rubber (usually used for sealing the HT room doors/windows) b/n the speakers-rings/panels. Also I had stiffened the stock plastic frame using metal putty and sealed all other openings using silicon sealant.

Another option is to cut the stock speaker braces and have a ring array till the door panel level to have a stock look. Since I was in hurry and the current install seals properly, I didnt go for it. But I may have to redesign it since the speaker grill is very near the glovebox cover when it is opened.

Ramie, is there any other way to install it neatly?

Hi Navin Sir,HAT is no more available in the market,there are products/drivers such as Sinfoni,ZR Speakerlab available which can be crossed much higher frequency.

Navin Sir,everyone does not go with the idea of making the Pods,we need to work on different idea's,after all client is God.How and What he says we have to work as he desires.

Sounds pretty decent,but yes in that budget he could have got something better,coming back to the topic Duster is one headache car to ICE and get the correct sound,very odd seating position than SUV's/MUV's available.

Ramie, sorry just now i saw your pictures. One doubt though, wont the flush mount with a 4" deep give a very localized sound esp for a 2 way, one of the main reason for not opting that location. Also it can affect the off-axis performance of the speakers. Your views plz. Anyways I will try it once.

No it will not,if the installation is done properly and sealing the midbass side areas,there is no harm installing outside only the stock look will go off,also since the plastic quality is a toss,may be after 2-3months you will hear rattles.

My doubt was on the following issues:

- localized sound esp for a 2 way since there is a depth \ tunnel in-front of the speaker
- the off-axis response of the speaker
