Re: VW Polo DIY: Adding a luminous ring to the 12v socket

Nice work.

Doubt: Luminous Ring is always ON or get ON when headlights are switched ON?

I'm about to start a project to install 12v socket in Nexon but I want socket to illuminate only in night i.e. when headlamps are ON.

Re: VW Polo DIY: Adding a luminous ring to the 12v socket

Inspired by this, I got one for my Vento. I’m facing two issues:
• I’m unable to remove the stock 12V socket using a binder pin
• Im not sure if the bulb assembly will fit using the same hole. I don’t want to remove the center plastic trims to install it

It’d be great if you could suggest some tips.

Hi there. I took want to do this retrofit in my polo. Where did you procure the part??

From simply looking at my polo's 12V socket, the placement of cupholders seem to have changed. However the black dummy ring is still present. Have VW modified the shape of the 12v socket making it harder to remove??

Hi,

Were you able to install the ring to the socket? Does it light up the cavity as the design of the cup holders has changed (the cup holders are now placed ahead of the 12v socket)?

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, newer Polos got cupholder placement similar to the Ventos like the below image.

You can still remove it the same way as Gannu showed here (VW Polo DIY: Adding a luminous ring to the 12v socket).

Hi! Yes, I was able to install it. It does light up the cup holder console as my car (and newer Polos, too) gets cup holder placement as shown above.
