Chevrolet Beat Facelift

• Chevrolet has launched the facelifted Beat at the Auto Expo
• The price ranges from 4.06 - 6.10 Lakhs (ex-delhi)
• The Beat is GM India's best selling model
• As some marketing departments tend to do, this has been called the "all-new" Beat - but it's just a facelift
• Top variants come with front dual air bags, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
• 8 colours available: Super Red, Cocktail Green, Sandrift Grey, Switch Blade Silver, Summit White, Misty Lake, Linen Beige and Caviar Black

There's a new shaped front grille (the bowtie & ribbon have been moved lower), clear headlamps with black accents & new fog lamps:

- Rotary knobs have changed to complete black colour from earlier white border.
- Pathetic looking silver trim on Door, Bottle holder, Ultility space besides steering and on the passenger side too.
- For all those desperately waiting to see whether Chevy has introduced the Mode functionality or not, sad news is, NO.
A few Team-BHPians made a wonderful discovery in their Beat Petrol cars.

HERE is what the Mode functionality does. Sad that Chevy did not introduce them in this facelift model.
- Engine - No change. No ECU Remap to fix 2nd Gear lag issue.

The Chevrolet TrailBlazer is a Fortuner-sized monster:


Unlike the soft-looking Captiva, this would have a more macho appeal, which is a large factor to SUV sales in India:


Vid6639 & .anshuman check out the engine. Note how high the hood-level looks next to these two 6-footers:


Its 2.8L engine produces 200 bhp @ 3,600 rpm and 500 Nm @ 2,000 rpm




Quite similar looking to the Fortuner from the rear 3/4ths view:




Straight-forward tail lamps. Nothing on this car is particularly cutting-edge in terms of design:

The interiors are straight-forward and rugged:


Wheel gets quite a few buttons. Large up/down toggles for the volume and cruise control are nice:

Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system provides smartphone connectivity, streaming audio and video. Users can access personal playlists and make hands-free calls:


The central dial has a display housed within it, for displaying temperature and fan speed:


ESP off and Hill Descent Control buttons housed ahead of the AT gear selector:


Select between 2WD high, 4WD high and 4WD low:


Logically placed mirror adjustment controls:

The Trailblazer is a 7-seater:


Legroom for the middle row:


Due to the flat floor (a body-on-frame negative), the middle-row bench is not high enough off the floor pan. Poor under-thigh support:


Middle row passengers get 2 AC vents and their own fan-speed selector:


The rear door pads:


Tabs on the seats let you flip them forward:


Plastic clad underside looks extremely neat:


Last row leg-room. Passengers get side arm-rests and a center console storage area:


Last row head-room is excellent:


And once again, that's a 6-footer squeezed in to the last row seats. Just about makes it:

The Chevrolet Adra Concept:


Developed entirely by Indian designers at GM's Bangalore Technical Centre:


The concept retains the Chevy split-grille, but breaks away from having the bow-tie logo on the ribbon:


Love the high-contrast & swept back motion in the headlamps:




The side is a touch boxy though:


Crisp rear end. No fuss, just clean lines:


Dual-tone detailing on the ORVMs:


17-inch wheels:


Another neat touch. The subtle fold-up on the lower cladding:

Hello, 2014 Corvette Stingray!


The lights look almost Ferrari 458-ish:


Hole on the dash = Head-Up Display (HUD) projector:


The rear is where the latest Corvette has really pushed the envelope in terms of styling:


455 bhp of power and 624 Nm of torque. (460 bhp & 630 Nm with the performance exhaust):


Note the venting beside the tail-lamp. Quite cool:


The Stingray is the most powerful standard Corvette model.


So we're looking at a brand new, shiny red Corvette, and Vid6639 says...


"Look at those panel gaps!" :




Gosh. I really wish they would offer different alloys. The design is bad enough, but the chrome finish just makes it tacky:


I used to LOVE the almost triangular rear windshield of the earlier Corvettes (image). Too bad its gone:


Rear quarter-glass does a great job of wrapping around the glass area:

One look at that massive hood with flared sides, and you'll know what it's called the 'Stingray':







And hello Camaro:


The 6.2L supercharged V8 engine under there produces 580 hp of power and 556 lb-ft of torque :


I love that ring looking out under the pulled-over hood:


The suspension uses Magnetic Ride Control to adapt to varying road and track surfaces:


It's been a while since I've seen Eagle F1s:

Starting from the 2014-2015 season, Chevrolet will be the shirt sponsor of the Manchester United football team. Let's celebrate with 15" wheels and custom seat covers too:


'Man-UVA'? Red roof rails, black sticker effects on the roof and spoiler, 15-inch BM alloy wheels, black leather gear knobs and red illuminated sill plates:


The 1933 Chevrolet Master Eagle Phaeton. Powered by an overhead valve six-cylinder engine along with a Silent Synchro-Mesh transmission:


It also featured a Starterator that enabled the engine to be started by simply pressing the accelerator to the floor:

If it was indeed an all new Beat as Chevrolet claims it, then they should have atleast added support for larger speakers front and back. This Beat is not even a facelift, just a minor revision, maybe an aftermarket mod at best.

i liked the trailblazer - Is it coming to india anytime soon, maybe even within a year ? One of the threads on TBHP says that plans are shelved due to paint shop challenges.

Another question - Is Trax and Adra same ? It is rumoured that GM Trax will come to india. I don't think GM/Chevrolet will launch Trax and Adra at the same time.

Is it just me ? but to me Adra name sounds and looks a little like Aria

Thank heavens for the TrailBlazer. Certainly looks the part to offer competition to the Fortuner's golden run.

If you take away the Camaro and the Corvette from the lineup of cars displayed, the range of cars GM sells in India looks too plain-jane!

I think Adra and Trax are different. I see many Buick Encore (aka Opel Adam) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Mokka) around here and it looks very different . Plus it is not a sub 4 meter vehicle as Adra seems to be.

But I like it! Looks different and closer to production than say a Tata Nexon.

The Trailblazer is what is known here in Australia as the Holden Colorado. Available in 5 and 7 seater variants, the moniker becomes Colorado 5/7 accordingly.

With respect to the tail lights on the Corvette, I think that all Chevrolet/Holden sedans are going in the same direction. 2014 Holden sedans like the Commodore and Malibu are being sold with similar tail lights.

That being said, thanks for covering the Auto Expo 2014.

The Adra seems to be the most promising bowtie in the show. It has really neat lines and very production version like looks.

Not sure about the sub 4m length and if it can be launched at the same price point as the EcoSport it can give its other American rival a good fight.

Also Trailblazer should compete well with the Fortuner which is just running scott free currently. Is it coming to India?
