Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3795.jpg

Chevrolet Beat Facelift
  • Chevrolet has launched the facelifted Beat at the Auto Expo
  • The price ranges from 4.06 - 6.10 Lakhs (ex-delhi)
  • The Beat is GM India's best selling model
  • As some marketing departments tend to do, this has been called the "all-new" Beat - but it's just a facelift
  • Top variants come with front dual air bags, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
  • 8 colours available: Super Red, Cocktail Green, Sandrift Grey, Switch Blade Silver, Summit White, Misty Lake, Linen Beige and Caviar Black

There's a new shaped front grille (the bowtie & ribbon have been moved lower), clear headlamps with black accents & new fog lamps:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-dsc_4071.jpg

The Beat, as originally launched:

The High Mounted Stop Light (HMSL) has moved from the rear glass onto the spoiler:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-dsc_4073.jpg

Old Beat, for comparison:

New tail lamps too. The old ones (see above) had black and chrome inserts, while these are more colour-filled:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-dsc_4075.jpg

The bottom half of the new dual-tone rear bumper has a lot more detailing than the old plain-jane one:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-dsc_4076.jpg

The interiors get a new silver insert and a height-adjustable driver’s seat:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-dsc01068.jpg

The old Beat interior:

A very welcome addition is Steering-mounted audio controls on the higher variants:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-dsc01069.jpg

A closer look at one of the most useful additions on the facelifted Beat:

Sorry guys, no climate control!

EDIT: Here's a more in-depth look from a Beat owner. Thanks Soumyajit9:

- Fresh Redesigned Front and Rear Bumpers.
- Fog light design has changed. It now features a new grille, apart from the new shape.
- Honey Comb Design of the front grille is gone. The new one looks like Inter-weaved Honeycomb !!
- Rear 3rd Brake light is now Integrated into the spoiler. Spoiler looks a little smaller than the old one.
- The new red reflective stickers are vertical and look nice.
- The plastic cladding below the rear bumper looks super with a grille and gives a sense of a body kit being added ! Good job here.
- Rear tail lamp design remain same, but its glass cover is now red. While everyone is moving to the clear glass pattern, I wonder why did Chevy go back to old school type !!

Highlights / Lowlights of Interior:

- Steering Mounted controls for Audio.- Golden Logo on LT (O) Variant.
- Automatic Climate Control now Gone.
- AC Recirculation type has changed from Push Button to old school type, like in Alto - A Slider. Horrible thing to do.
- Rotary knobs have changed to complete black colour from earlier white border.
- Pathetic looking silver trim on Door, Bottle holder, Ultility space besides steering and on the passenger side too.
- For all those desperately waiting to see whether Chevy has introduced the Mode functionality or not, sad news is, NO.
A few Team-BHPians made a wonderful discovery in their Beat Petrol cars.

HERE is what the Mode functionality does. Sad that Chevy did not introduce them in this facelift model.
- Engine - No change. No ECU Remap to fix 2nd Gear lag issue.

Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

The Chevrolet TrailBlazer is a Fortuner-sized monster:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-01-img_3459.jpg

Unlike the soft-looking Captiva, this would have a more macho appeal, which is a large factor to SUV sales in India:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-02-img_3460.jpg

Vid6639 & .anshuman check out the engine. Note how high the hood-level looks next to these two 6-footers:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-03-img_3035.jpg

Its 2.8L engine produces 200 bhp @ 3,600 rpm and 500 Nm @ 2,000 rpm
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-04-img_3034.jpg

Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-05-img_3734.jpg

Quite similar looking to the Fortuner from the rear 3/4ths view:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-06-img_3730.jpg

Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-07-img_3791.jpg

Straight-forward tail lamps. Nothing on this car is particularly cutting-edge in terms of design:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-08-img_3731.jpg

Clean rear end:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-09-img_3735.jpg

Note the projector-type fog lights:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-11-img_3036.jpg

Massive 18" wheels & tyres:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-12-img_3033.jpg

.anshuman takes a good look under the SUV. This is how we do at Team-BHP :
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-13-img_3032.jpg

The interiors are straight-forward and rugged:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-010-img_3775.jpg

Wheel gets quite a few buttons. Large up/down toggles for the volume and cruise control are nice:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-020-img_3739.jpg

Relatively small dials are housed deep inside the instrument cluster:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-023-img_3760.jpg

Chunky switch-gear:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-024-img_3763.jpg

Center console goes with the circular HVAC layout:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-030-img_3742.jpg

Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system provides smartphone connectivity, streaming audio and video. Users can access personal playlists and make hands-free calls:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-040-img_3743.jpg

The central dial has a display housed within it, for displaying temperature and fan speed:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-050-img_3745.jpg

ESP off and Hill Descent Control buttons housed ahead of the AT gear selector:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-060-img_3752.jpg

Select between 2WD high, 4WD high and 4WD low:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-070-img_3750.jpg

Logically placed mirror adjustment controls:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-080-img_3758.jpg

In-dash storage:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-130-img_3783.jpg

Dual glove boxes:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-140-img_3747.jpg

Another storage hold, hidden away below the steering column:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-150-img_3771.jpg

Steering tilt adjustment only. Nice looking lever (it's in the loosened position at the moment):
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-152-img_3762.jpg

Deep center console storage. It's American, so of course there's cup/bottle holders:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3751.jpg

Roof mounted holder for your sunglasses:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3753.jpg

Euro-style light switch:

Door panels are all business:

Re: Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

The Trailblazer is a 7-seater:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-004-img_3773.jpg

Legroom for the middle row:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-007-img_3778.jpg

Due to the flat floor (a body-on-frame negative), the middle-row bench is not high enough off the floor pan. Poor under-thigh support:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-010-img_3027.jpg

Middle row passengers get 2 AC vents and their own fan-speed selector:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-020-img_3768.jpg

The rear door pads:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-030-img_3770.jpg

Tabs on the seats let you flip them forward:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-004-img_3780.jpg

Plastic clad underside looks extremely neat:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-020-img_3029.jpg

Last row leg-room. Passengers get side arm-rests and a center console storage area:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-030-img_3776.jpg

Last row head-room is excellent:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-040-img_3030.jpg

And once again, that's a 6-footer squeezed in to the last row seats. Just about makes it:

Re: Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

The Chevrolet Adra Concept:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3705.jpg

Developed entirely by Indian designers at GM's Bangalore Technical Centre:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3695.jpg

The concept retains the Chevy split-grille, but breaks away from having the bow-tie logo on the ribbon:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3698.jpg

Love the high-contrast & swept back motion in the headlamps:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3697.jpg

Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3721.jpg

The side is a touch boxy though:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3707.jpg

Crisp rear end. No fuss, just clean lines:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3716.jpg

Dual-tone detailing on the ORVMs:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3699.jpg

17-inch wheels:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3701.jpg

Another neat touch. The subtle fold-up on the lower cladding:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3702.jpg

Note the Chevy logos in the tail-lamps:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3709.jpg

Lit up:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3714.jpg

Black roof wraps over to the sides of the car:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3711.jpg

Bumper vent is purely for looks. There's a reflector embedded in there too:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3717.jpg

Nice job guys! I'm impressed:

Re: Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

Hello, 2014 Corvette Stingray!
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3011.jpg

The lights look almost Ferrari 458-ish:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3012.jpg

Hole on the dash = Head-Up Display (HUD) projector:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3013.jpg

The rear is where the latest Corvette has really pushed the envelope in terms of styling:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3014.jpg

455 bhp of power and 624 Nm of torque. (460 bhp & 630 Nm with the performance exhaust):
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3015.jpg

Note the venting beside the tail-lamp. Quite cool:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3016.jpg

The Stingray is the most powerful standard Corvette model.
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3021.jpg

So we're looking at a brand new, shiny red Corvette, and Vid6639 says...
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3023.jpg

"Look at those panel gaps!" :
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3023x-img_3022.jpg

Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3803.jpg

Gosh. I really wish they would offer different alloys. The design is bad enough, but the chrome finish just makes it tacky:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3805.jpg

I used to LOVE the almost triangular rear windshield of the earlier Corvettes (image). Too bad its gone:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3806.jpg

Rear quarter-glass does a great job of wrapping around the glass area:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3807.jpg

Stingray logo:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3808.jpg

One look at that massive hood with flared sides, and you'll know what it's called the 'Stingray':
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3809.jpg

Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3813.jpg

Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3814.jpg

And hello Camaro:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3818.jpg

The 6.2L supercharged V8 engine under there produces 580 hp of power and 556 lb-ft of torque :
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3827.jpg

I love that ring looking out under the pulled-over hood:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3826.jpg

The suspension uses Magnetic Ride Control to adapt to varying road and track surfaces:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3832.jpg

It's been a while since I've seen Eagle F1s:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3833.jpg

Dual-mode exhaust lets you announce the Camaro when required:
Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014-img_3837.jpg

Nürburgring timing? 7:41.27!

The driver space however is hugely limited by the passenger compartment wall. Driver has to sit very upright:

Re: Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

If it was indeed an all new Beat as Chevrolet claims it, then they should have atleast added support for larger speakers front and back. This Beat is not even a facelift, just a minor revision, maybe an aftermarket mod at best.

Re: Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

i liked the trailblazer - Is it coming to india anytime soon, maybe even within a year ? One of the threads on TBHP says that plans are shelved due to paint shop challenges.

Another question - Is Trax and Adra same ? It is rumoured that GM Trax will come to india. I don't think GM/Chevrolet will launch Trax and Adra at the same time.

Is it just me ? but to me Adra name sounds and looks a little like Aria

Re: Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

Thank heavens for the TrailBlazer. Certainly looks the part to offer competition to the Fortuner's golden run.

If you take away the Camaro and the Corvette from the lineup of cars displayed, the range of cars GM sells in India looks too plain-jane!

I think Adra and Trax are different. I see many Buick Encore (aka Opel Adam) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Mokka) around here and it looks very different . Plus it is not a sub 4 meter vehicle as Adra seems to be.

But I like it! Looks different and closer to production than say a Tata Nexon.

Re: Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

The Trailblazer is what is known here in Australia as the Holden Colorado. Available in 5 and 7 seater variants, the moniker becomes Colorado 5/7 accordingly.

With respect to the tail lights on the Corvette, I think that all Chevrolet/Holden sedans are going in the same direction. 2014 Holden sedans like the Commodore and Malibu are being sold with similar tail lights.

That being said, thanks for covering the Auto Expo 2014.

Re: Chevrolet @ Auto Expo 2014

The Adra seems to be the most promising bowtie in the show. It has really neat lines and very production version like looks.

Not sure about the sub 4m length and if it can be launched at the same price point as the EcoSport it can give its other American rival a good fight.

Also Trailblazer should compete well with the Fortuner which is just running scott free currently. Is it coming to India?
