Honda Jazz showing dip in sales so quickly and sales of Honda has dipped by almost 16% . Honda need to relook at pricing and its products. In last year, Honda has made no progress in terms of its sales.

Looks like, Creta is denting sales figure of Ford Ecosport already. Compared to Creta, S-cross has put up very low numbers and most likely, will only dip further.

No other words guys, stunning achievement! Take a bow! And, in other words, Mercedes sells more cars per month in India than Fiat. Now if that isn't an achievement, I don't know what is!

• Good to see the premium manufacturer numbers. Audi and Mercedes sell more than Fiat and are quite close to Skoda. Of course a much larger portfolio helps.
  
• Aspire makes a strong start straight into 2nd spot in the compact sedan space. Need to see if it can sustain.
  
• Same for S Cross. Good start considering the bashing it got after the price announcement. Will need to see over the next few months.
  
• Creta a run away winner for Hyundai. 7000+ units. A great achievement.
  
• Ciaz looks to be giving strong competition to the City. Closely the gap. City down from its hey days of 7000+ units.
  
• Jazz doing pretty well for itself. But don't see any impact to the others in the segment, Elite i20 or the Polo. Again too early to call. Next couple of months will give a clear picture. If it can sustain 5-6000 units, I would consider it a winner for Honda.
  
• Grand i10 continues to be another major success for Hyundai. Need to see if the 0 star crash rating will impact it.
  
• Tavera is Chevrolet's best seller. No further explanation needed on the sad state of affairs at GM India.
  
• Less than 100 units for Linea. A car that definitely deserves more.
  
• Terrano and Duster (to a lesser extent) taking the Creta hit. Lodgy number steadily decreasing. Looks to be another flop. The Innova continues its march.
  
• Polo and Vento doing its usual numbers.
  
• Probably the last time we see the Fiesta and Classic on this list. An unnecessary and unwanted demise for the Fiesta. Come on Ford.

Among new launches, Creta started with a good 7K+ units, and I believe they will sustain this momentum for next 6 months at least. S-Cross, started with a 4K+ numbers, understandably due to the less number of Nexa dealerships and no up-selling tricks working here. Jazz equals City numbers almost, and I expect the numbers to come down soon, leaving City at the top as before, while having production constraints for Amaze . Ford has shipped 5K units of Aspire, and even this will soon stabilize around 3K figure. TUV300 numbers are not there, I expected M&M would have shipped some units ahead of launch.

A point worth noting, is, the MPV trend. The sales of Ertiga, Mobilio, Xylo are all declining. We also see a lot of advertisements for Ertiga these days. Customers preferring Compact SUVs instead of MPVs?

Alto's numbers are back at first place with 23K. When it comes to small hatchback, there is no competition to Alto. Eon's sales on the other hand seems to be dwindling. Probably because of the priority Hyundai dealers give to premium hatchback and sedan sales. Expectedly Elite i20 and Grand i10 are having party, leaving the Xcent a little behind.

Considering the old products, Tata Zest and Bolt are seeing a slight comeback. Zest would start selling some numbers, as the company is adopting an aggressive marketing & also offering discounts now. Nano is doing well too. Company is repositioning the products. Probably, soon the Indicas would be sold only in Tier-2 cities, and in metros we can see nice cars in Tata showrooms!

On arrival of several new cars, while Ecosport has taken a slight hit, Duster has taken a massive hit. Duster is selling four times less than what it sold a few months back. Ditto for Terrano. Renault are suffering, and it shows. Lodgy is already dead.
For Nissan, right now, Micra is the only one holding the candle. I don't know why they still ship products such as Evalia, Teana, Koleos etc in single digits. I thought at least Evalia is discontinued a few months back itself?

For M&M, the XUV500 facelift or the Scorpio facelift has not done any wonders, but at least they can manage similar sales for XUV500, while Scorpio isn't selling like before. Bolero too is dropping, as the customers are changing. However M&M has already sprung into action with several relevant products in line.

VW and Toyota manage similar numbers with their products. Hope they introduce fresh products soon.
Chevrolet - less said, the better.
Fiat is making new engines, while their products are going nowhere. Even Abarth is just a niche product, and its launch will not increase Punto's sales.
Surprising, but Datsun still manages some Go & Go+ numbers. Free Gold must be working!

Not really. If you notice the sales of Ertiga over the past 6 months, its always been between 4XXX and 5XXX on a consistent basis except this month.

There are many chances that a potential Sedan or a Premium Hatch buyer would shift to a Compact SUV but those customers who have made up their mind that they need a 7 or a 5+2 flexi seater, the choices remain between the models that you mention - Ertiga, Mobilio, Xylo, Lodgy etc.

If anyone if looking strictly for a 5 seater mostly, its them who may never buy an MPV.

For the kind of flexibility that MPVs offer and the way they come to aide in much needed times (& occasionally), MPVs still return bang for every buck spent, specially with the Ertiga that comes within the budget when compared with the Mobilio or the Lodgy.

(This is just a plain fact where that Punny 1.3 with 89 Horses do not really matter to the buyers)

A stellar month for most of the Top 20 performers. Nice to see Tata Bolt gaining some steam. It deserves more. The Creta effect has taken its toll on many models like Duster, Lodgy, Ecosport and even Ertiga. All the new boys have shown good numbers including the Aspire.

Interesting to see Mitsubishi even selling something after so many flat months. Actually, what are they selling?

Aditya, any way to get similar stats for motorcycles also?

Been waiting to see the August charts! Thanks for the detailed reports.
Ford seems to have a winner in Aspire. looks like it will eat into the Jazz numbers. Will be interesting to see how TUV 3OO performs in this month.

Just to add - Do the few numbers on the Gypsy include the ones sold to TN Government for use in Police department, 135 of them?

Was waiting to see the figures. Creta & S-Cross seem to be doing really well. The compact SUV market is set to expand further with the coming of the Mahindra TUV.
One really wonders what the guys bringing up the rear - Fiat, Skoda & Nissan - are doing in India. The premium auto companies seem to be selling almost as much as them. It's great to get their figures for the first time.
