Re: Fiat too wants to develop a low cost car for India

Fiat bosses should think of building an effective service network first. What they have now is a joke.

Who knows, like the Linea Classic, they could very well launch an entry-level variant based on old Punto which IMHO is still liked by few people as compared to Evo.

Target may be Taxi market which shouldn't be a big problem as 1.3 MultiJet is a proven engine.

OR

At the same time we also had news of Fiat developing and even testing an all new entry level hatch in 3.5 lakh price range to be a volume player.

I would prefer the second option as Punto is ending its life cycle wrt looks.

Fiat hitting taxi market ,especially with old punto,is a joke IMHO, as long they don't get the basic criteria of taxi image - thinly built, fuel efficient car with good backseat (read indigo, etios)and good service network. And not to forget the image FIAT currently has among taxi drivers now.
