I think its a 2.8 V6 petrol that the dealer is refering to. Why would they launch 2 diesels and no petrol? the 2.0 TDI is their common rail motor and comes 140 and 170 bhp versions.
could be the 2.7 that audi uses.

Then again, its good, but what about the price ? 16V 4 cylinder diesel might do justice to Fabia Chassis, but then if they price as per their present Fabia Pricing standards, then succes wont follow.

Yes agreed that I was talking the same thing. I just tried to be too much specific, but lost some common sense here. What ever it is. The new audi A4 has its front wheel pushed out by 154mm/ engine pushed back.
The present Passat/Superb are based on extended Golf/Laura platform.

Hope that its now much clear picture.

Hey Mpower....when I checked and he said 2.8 TDI without me prompting him!!! I called him again this afternoon now he says it will be 2.8 petrol & 2.5 diesel...when asked that would mean old egines in new body he did not answere but asked me to call him back!!!!...he did repeat November 08 launch date....I am searching the net and only one site says 2.7 TDI...if so we are talking the A6..all confusing...I wouldn't be surprised if they launch it with the 2.0 TDI as it is the same passat unit available in europe with higher output.

crackingride he is a production guy/head of manufacturing....their board number is (0240) 6631111

Re: Skoda's Mega Plans

Skoda evaluating Next Gen Fabia for India.

Fabia replacement would involve “synergies in VW group” points squarely at the MQB platform. Since, the CitiGo hatchback has been ruled out from the Indian car market due to localization and costing challenges, the logical replacement to the Fabia will be the car’s next-generation version, due in 2015.

Quote:
For the Fabia replacement, Skoda India would adopt the “same strategy that it did for the Rapid sedan“, hinting at a badge engineering approach, the Skoda Rapid being a rebadged Vento by and large ,the same with the current Polo and Fabia designs.

With the MQB platform based 2015 Volkswagen Polo due next year, the next-generation Fabia, it appears, will be a badge engineered model, based on the MQB Polo
.

Incidentally, Skoda’s in-house code for the MQB platform is NVQ and the Czech car maker has already announced that the next-gen Fabia will be based on the NVQ platform. Expect the next-gen version of the Fabia to feature 3 cylinder turbo petrol (1.0 TSI) and turbo diesel (1.4 TDI) engines.
Meanwhile,
Skoda has already begun manufacturing MQB based cars in India, with the 2013 Octavia being the first car model to use the MQB platform in India.

By the looks of it, the 2015 next-gen Fabia could be next in line.

Would be interesting to see a Skoda dressed Polo. Btw, our news article says VW Polo might come with 1.5 TDI? So, ideally both cars will have the same engine right?

http://www.team-bhp.com/news/vw-polo...-spotted-india

Quote:
On the mechanical front, the Polo is expected to get a 1.5-litre TDI engine, which is a downsized version of the 1.6 TDI engine. It will be available in two states of tune - 89 bhp and 104 bhp with a variable geometry turbo. The petrol engine line-up is likely to remain unchanged.
O.T:And the updated Polo looks already production ready but why wait until later part of the year?
And when is the Rapid facelift coming? Skoda's new front would make Rapid look far better than now.

1.Internationally the facelifted Polo comes with a new 1.4-liter 3-cylinder diesel engines outputting 74 bhp (55 kW), 89 bhp (66 kW) and 104 bhp (77 kW) - But looks like India will tweak the 1.6 TDI . Yes, if you mean Polo and Fabia .

By later part of the year could be as early as in May 2014.

We are talking of the NEXT GEN Polo MK6 due in 2015, it will be a new design in the MQB/NVQ platform of VW/Skoda. New engines like the 1.0 TSI etc are speculated. Launch in India could be in 2016 along with Taigun, etc.

Cheers!

My guess is that what this really means is that

1: Fabia being a different platform will come as a CKD to Aurangabad
2: Once the MQB platform Polo arrives, one will see the Fabia/ Polo/ Octavia being manufactured in Chakan after it has been retooled.
3: Can the Golf then be introduced at a competitive price? - remains to be soon

Re: Skoda's Mega Plans

Skoda India is planning to launch two new SUV's.

1.One of them will be a 7-seat SUV that will sit above the facelifted Yeti. The SUV will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The Skoda 7 seat SUV will be based on the VW MQB platform

2.The Skoda compact SUV underpinning the VW Taigun.

Skoda will be launching an entry level variant of the Yeti as well later this year which will be propelled by a 1.2 litre TSI motor and will be available in front wheel drive guise only.

Skoda to launch new Fabia in October 2014 ( in Europe)

Skoda has said that the car will come in Autumn this year in Europe, which might set it up for a debut at the Paris Motor Show held in the first week of October.
The new version of the hatchback will be builton the VW Group’s MQB platform, which is adapted for smaller cars like the Fabia in the form of the MQB-A platform. Other models on this platform would be the next-gen VW Polo and the Seat Ibiza.

Re: Skoda's Mega Plans

Skoda Auto to re-launch Fabia, new 7-seater SUV in the offing ( 2017 ?)

Skoda Auto India will soon venture into the next phase of expansion with launch of more products and higher localisation. Skoda to stick to its premium pricing and not compromise to increase volume sales. ( since an emerging market brand in offing?)
Quote:
Apart from giving facelifts to existing models, the company is also looking at launching a sports utility vehicle (SUV) along with a re-introduction of its small car- FABIA.
Quote:
It is also in the process of fixing past issues related to after sales and operational losses
Quote:
The company has been largely addressing the after sales service and customer satisfaction issues. The company said that it has made decent progress, which will start reflecting on its volumes soon.
Quote:
The company is also further looking at higher levels of localisation for its products like Rapid. The current level of localisation is around 60-65%, while the company is looking at a percentage of around 80% going ahead

Re: Skoda's Mega Plans

Details emerge for the of the next Skoda Fabia city car and is due to be revealed at the 2014 Paris motor show in October. It is expected that Skoda will also offer the next Fabia with a sedan body style.

Skoda's Mega Plans-skodafabia.jpg

Quote:
The new Fabia – which is expected to see a significant design overhaul with styling similar elements similar to the new Octavia model.

The new Fabia is expected to continue with the same underpinnings as the current model, and not built upon the Volkswagen Group’s MQB modular platform.

The engine options will likely mirror those seen in the updated Volkswagen Polo, including a range of new three-cylinder powerplants as well as the existing 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbo that is now offered in two states of tune (66kW/160Nm and 81kW/175Nm rather than the existing 77kW/175Nm) in that model range.

Re: Skoda's Mega Plans

Skoda to bring new seven-seater flagship SUV

Skoda's Mega Plans-0_468_700_http___i_haymarket_net_au_extraimages_20140606042911_vw_concept.jpg

Will rival Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Fortuner; Skoda to also bring Yeti facelift by end-2014 and baby-SUV later(that will be based on the upcoming VW Taigun.)

Quote:
This new SUV could be Skoda’s version of the Volkswagen CrossBlue SUV that is due to launch next year. It is expected to be around 4.6 meters in length and will also come with optional all-wheel drive.
Based on VW's MQB platform, this new seven-seater is expected to feature bold, cutting-edge styling. There are even rumours that it could get a sloping roofline like the Range Rover Evoque. Skoda has earlier said that its larger models will get bold, provocative styling to differentiate them from the mainstream. This new SUV’s design could just be the step in that direction.
This new seven-seat SUV would slot in above the Superb sedan in the carmaker's India line-up and prices are expected to be in the region of Rs 25-30 lakh.
