a friend is coming down to india in a couple of days so i was thinking of asking him to get a stock replacement air filter for my baleno - but at the K&N site there is no parts given for the Suzuki Esteem/Baleno - only for the 2001 1.8 and onwards - Part No. 33-2162
...

will this fit in my 1.6 or is there any other part no i can tell him to look for

instead of getting from abroad u can get it here in india.there are 2 types of filters---1.the stock replacement filter that fits directly into ur air box and
2.the universal type.


go for the stock replacement as it will not require u to do any mods.

I think out here it wouldnt be less than 6k - in the US the stock replacement for the 1.8 is for $30 ....

money, money, money - the remainder can go into my computer fund to buy a decent graphics card ;-)

Am not sure I understood the talk about the "2001 1.8". The Baleno has a 1.6L engine rite? Was it a 1.8L before?

see abroad there are two models of balenos...a 1.6 and a 1.8 in india only the 1.6 is avble....and in the u.s. the baleno is under the name "esteem"..may seem funny but yes the baleno is known as the esteem in the u.s., so if gettin u r filter from u.s. ask for the 1.6 esteem filter

thats why ,
i suggest u go for the stock replacement filter available here.
the universal filter will require to make an extension for the filter to fit into the air intake.
on the other hand the stock replacement is a straight fit.more ever u dont have to worry about water getting splashed during rains or during servicing .

yup, i know about the esteem/baleno - swift/esteem/geo metro monikers, i in fact checked for the 1.6 esteem itself and on the K&N site but there was no mention of a suitable filter for it - only for the 1.8 variants.

Anyway, my friends probably in a plane right now so it doesnt really matter - I'll check around in delhi around march-april for the stock type once my car has run in a bit (just done 500Km in 1 week).

btw - for those int - my pal had an 800 here in Delhi, used public transport at work in Chennai and now in Detroit has a Pontiac Grand Prix (or was it a GTO ? - me forgets ) V6 200bhp
He wanted the 220bhp supercharged version but took the base model finally -btw doesn't vulken_auto have a similar car ?

I hope the idiot got some pics - i've been pestering him since he got the car.

i have stock replacements for esteem and gypsy with me, if u want a baleno i could get it to u on order, however i also have a Nitto double cone and K&N cone filters just incase u want to get those.
