Scorpio: the last row seat was facing the back

Yesterday, at Vasant Vihar Thane I saw this Black Scorpio whose last row seats were folded. I observed that if they were unfolded, the person sitting on it would face the traffic behind it!

I want to know if this arrangement is factory fitted OR a modification?

I have never seen one like that. Are you sure you did not see a seat that was folded and kept upside down?

While we are at it, what is the possibility of having the last row seats installed front facing ? Anyone does it locally in Bangalore or would it be better to get one installed from the showroom ?

I remember sitting in a Willy's jeep (or was it Mahindra's oldest version) with the seat facing back in the late 60s.
On a Scorp, it looks like a mod. I think it's good to watch and warn someone who is likely to rear end your vehicle

rjstyles - Doesn't last row seats always come front facing.

Or are you talking of changing the side facing seats to front facing one?

@ rkstyles69: you can do that but i am not sure the mahindra A.S.S would do that for you. our CRDe scorpio came with side facing bucket seats but since we wanted to seat more, we fitted sumo's longer seats in the boot. that was 3 years back.

but my advise would be leave the manufacturer's fittings as it is. it is good for both your safety as well as comfort.

The older E class estate 300TE used to have that config. Strictly for kids though.

But what about the Maruti Suzuki Versa seating arrangement then? Saw the same (as seen in Scorpio) type of seats folded in Versa too.

It's not the real facing seats. The last row can be folded towards the middle row to get more space in the boot. If they are unfolded, they would expand like the normal front facing seats.
