Hello People,
I finaly got an Autocop gear lock(Pin type)for my car. However there were some issues while fitting them.I purchased them from CarArt in Chinchwad. They are the dealers for Autocop in PCMC area.People from Autocop itself had come for fitting it.But they were not able to remove the Gearknob in my car.The guy told me they had to remove it first to start with the fittings. This happend in a MASS in Chinchwad. They told that earlier Esteem Gearknobs where threaded ones and could be removed easily.however nowadays they are vaccum sealed ones and very difficult to remove. Also if we forcefuly remove them ,the seating wont be proper while refitting it.After all these,i didnt have the Gearlock fitted and have returned it to the dealer itself. The Autocop guy told me he faced the same problem with an Accent too.Can anybody throw some light on this.Anyone has Gearlock's in your Esteems(the new one's as Maruti calls it;-) )Now i am having sleepless nights as there is no security in the nights at my building.Whats the alternative mechanical locks available.I liked the gear to clutch lock in GTO's classic. Is it available in India.
Help please
Jraj

There are a few alternatives. A steering wheel lock, see picture at http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/iipcache/15896.jpg

also a autolok type device that locks the gear stick to your handbrake http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/iipcache/15897.jpg

Have a look at the features etc on these devices at www.autolok.co.uk

Hi Jraj

I had the same pin type AutoCop gear lock installed in my Esteem (2007, VXi) and the whole process went without any problem. So I don't think there should be any issues with you getting one installed too.

Peace!
