Does the new Accent Executive make any sense ?

As most of you must be aware, Hyundai Accent is now avilable in only one model - Accent Executive. Its a fully loaded car having an on road price of 5.1 Lac (Noida)! Even the nearest competitor, Dzire Vxi is 50k costlier and does not match the Accent in the equipment level.

Agreed that its a decade old car, but you have got to see it to believe it! The deal is too mouth watering. The feature list include:
  1. Beige interiors with designer beige seats
  2. Wood garnish, dual tone front panel
  3. Keyless entry
  4. Tilt steering
  5. Leather wrapped steering wheel & gear knob
  6. Central Locking
  7. Power windows
  8. Fog lamps (offered by dealer)
  9. 2+2 year warranty (again dealer offer)
  10. Tubeless tyres
..and a host of other features. I dont think there can be a better deal then this. Overall its a far better package than Dzire. But the million dollar question remains: Does it make sense to buy it? Need a poll from fellow BHPians to make a purchase descision.

I have voted
Yes, its a true VFM car

But only if you intend to keep it for at least 5 years.

Surprising tough, but why didnt he pick Accent Executive? And 5.72 Lacs on Road?

I can show the offer of 5.1 lacs on road in Noida by Nimbus Hyundai..

akash_m: I voted Yes. Why? For, if I were to buy a petrol sedan today I would consider the Accent as a true VFM option because:

1) A comfortable sedan
2) A good Handler at that
3) Not a very bad FE
4) Resale value (eventhough the CRDI's have been phased out alongwith other Petrol variants of the Accent, The resale value hasn't dropped drastically, check to buy a relatively good used Accent you would realise)
5) Low service costs, low maintanence
6) Very well built, rugged, eventhough sleek (no squeaks and rattles even after extensive use)

The Con's:

1) FE: around 9kmpl (this depends on driving style, traffic conditions etc though)
2) The threat of its being taken out of production by Hyundai (but check point # 4 above)

Was scratching my head for more cons but then just realised we have loads of Hyundai bashers who will be along here shortly to take care of the cons.

All the best with your quest until then.

Well yes it s still a good VFM. Few people might think its quite outdated but i think it still has a good road presence. 5.1 l On road! Could you give us the break up & the discounts. Well its a steal at this price. Forget resale if you keeping this car for atleast 5 years.

I voted in the affirmative.

buddy, the ex-showroom price is 4.99L - how is it that you are getting at 5.1L on road price?

The only negative that I can immediately think of is the low rear seating. So, if you have some aged people who will occupy the rear seats, then it may be difficult for them.

If it is not much of a problem, could you please post the actual nature of the deal with detailed pricing structure and discounts on offer, so it may help other members.

The only reason I did not go for this is, the low bed. It was similar to my Zen and hence I did not go for that. Also, 3 months back there was news that this will be phased out. But seems its not in the near future.
So, it IS VFM car.

Dont remember the exact nature of deal, since am not carrying it right now. But these points i remember;
  • Insurance cost is waived off
  • Company is offering a 'Gold Coin' free with the car. 8k discount if you dont take it!
  • I substracted 10k towards finance discount (for 3 lacs)
  • Logistic charges (4k) waived off
Believe it or not, but had I worked with HCL and owned a santro, the Accent would have cost me 5 lacs on road! 5k discount as loyalty bonus & 5k towards corporate discount! At this price, its not a steal, it is grand theft!

Thanks for those nice words Suren. It felt as if you were praising my car

Aakash, i agree with most of the people's opinion here. I too vote for the Accent Petrol

I was in a hyundai showroom the other day as a friend is picking up a Verna and happen to see this Accent and i was floored by the changes made to the interiors, it is really looking much better. As you may know with a little care, the interiors of an accent remains almost brand new for a long time.

And, for that price, its a steal.Go for it!

I do believe that Accent is very much a true VFM deal.
Infact i had the same discussion with a friend just 2 days back & I advocated for the accent over the Swift even though I own a Swift.

Being an owner I agree with suren and mobike. You cannot get a better VFM for 5.1L. Having said that, if you are planning to do some major bit of driving, have you looked at other options at that price range apart from Dzire? Like a Swift Ldi? Indigo CS TDI?

Sorry buddy, insurance is not free, but still the on road price is 5.1 lacs only. Here's an example (rough figures)

Ex shoroom price: 4.99 Lacs
Road Tax: 15k
Insurance: 14k
Logistics: 4K
On road price: 5.32 Lacs

Free Logistics: -4K
Free Gold coin: -8k
Finance discount: -10k
On road price (after discount): 5.1 Lacs
