Well in a BHP mad country like ours I doubt it will make it at 6L. Not unless you're an absolutely serious tourer that tours every single month.
Pretty much the entire kit on this bike can be kitted out on a duke 390 that still puts out 44 BHP, costs 4 lakhs less and is also way more easily serviced at remote locations considering KTMS popularity. So the only thing it really offers is the twin cylinder, and at this price anyone would rather put their money down on the ninja if they were really considering a twin or stretch to the versys for a bigger touring experience.

ITs just amazing that the touring segment got a boost from the entry of HD into the Indian market and the recent launch of the BMW at its 'reduced' prices has brought a cheer to the Adventure bike segment now.
Benelli 502, the KTM 390 ADV, the Vstrom 650- and then a world beater, the low powered but ultra reliable Kawasaki 650KLR.... Where are these guys?
The impossible reviews of the Himalayan have laid it to waste-
The marketing value of getting just a lot of about 10000 pieces of a particular model on the road could be worth millions for the brand- right? Just imagine 40 or 50 TKR502s rampaging in the Ladakh Sector this riding season-
There must be something about motorcycle manufacturers logic that I dont get.

Met a few guys on their Benelli gt 600s on the highway to bandipur and ooty this afternoon. Asked them if they were looking forward to the trk 502.

Said they wouldn't touch it by a bargepole.

Also, oil changes are now every 4000 kms. I mean, really?

Any particular reason? Looks like a more thoughtfully designed touring machine than the 600GT.

True. 4 months / 4000kms.

Makes it almost twice as expensive to maintain over an year. The main reason it got knocked out of my shortlist, even though I had a big soft spot for the inline4 machine.

Oil change should not be such a bad point , I think it's good if you change the oil frequently. Most oils loose some of it viscosity and quality during usage, moreover there is carbon deposit, metal wear (burr issues) to deal with , it gives you peace of mind knowing that the oil is frequently changed.I personally like it and do it, it's a small price to pay for longer trouble free services.

Agree. It certainly looks better than the bulbous 600GT and should be perfect for Indian conditions if they price it ~ 4 Lakhs

If pricing is good then it negates the cost of frequent servicing

According to them it was a completely chinese bike. Its interesting that existing TNT 300 owners are not looking at the 502 as an upgrade. More so since the guys I was talking to were Benelli fan boys (some kind of club ride).

Well, personally, I wouldn't touch a Benelli either. Not when the Jap's are around.

As per below link it seems Benelli 500 TRK will be launched next year, first they will do a soft launch during Delhi Auto expo 2018, post that it may hit streets.

It has already hit our neighboring countries like Nepal & Malaysia
