245/40 R18 tyres for the Audi A4 3.2 FSI

My A4 Quattro needs a tire change. It came with Yokohama Advan Sport from the factory but I would like to upgrade, they are size 245/40 18 which are difficult to source as it is.

Any suggestions on what tire I could go for and where I could get them? Performance over comfort

Also, does anyone stock Yokohama AD08 in Mumbai ?

Thanks,

Not that difficult, if you find the right dealer. You'll be surprised to know the number of BHPian cars (E Class, 5 series and even an Accord V6) running this size. The officially available EVO X wears exactly the same size too.

Fitting tyres for one heck of a car (I am a huge fan of the 3.2FSI). Suggest you get in touch with Sumit from International Tyres (Directory Link), Jitubhai from Saifee (Directory Link) or Kenny from Pal Tyres (Directory Link).

Thank you, (I'm a huge fan too )

I know the EVO comes with those and I had that size on my old Accord V6 too but getting Yokohama or Michelin was impossible then also.

I'll speak to them asap, don't think they'll be open on a Sunday.

Its going to be a hard task sourcing that size at this point thanks to the huge shortage in the market.

Thanks for all tips and info, after a good bit of hunting I've got to take a call between -

a. Michelin PS3
b. Goodyear Eagle GT

Are Michelins too comfort oriented? Would the GT be a downgrade from the current Yokos and how do they compare to the Michelins?

Its gotta be the Michelins. They are supposed to be very, very good. But the sidewall will be soft, so be a bit careful of potholes and stuff.

I've heard quite a bit about Michelins and their soft side walls, potholes are one thing but the softer sidewalls tend to numb feedback and reduce turn in. Im not sure and they dont have an answer for how much difference it would make for tires in a lower profile.

They will be quite comfortable though. The PS3s are supposed to be good tyres from what I have read. Personally, I would never get goodyears, going by their lower end tyres and the reviews I've read for the higher end ones.

Re: 245/40 R18 tyres for the Audi A4 3.2 FSI

I tried International tyres, Pal tyres, Saifee, Premji's & a couple more places, no one had a good brand of tire available in my size due to some ban on imported tires. The guy who quoted me for the Michelins had two tyres in stock and couldn't source two more in my size & I really didn't want to change the spec even a little bit.

I wasn't running around much so decided to wait till I get a good set, last week I discovered a bulge on one of my tires and that was it, got my buddy to get me a set of Yokohama AD08. It turned out pretty expensive but....

These have much more grip and absorb bumps better than the old set even on 'Dynamic' which is usually bone jarring. I haven't pushed them as yet, first 300 kms.

Will post pics soon, these tires look sweet.
