$12000 Carbon Fibre Wheels

Check these out. Made in Japan by WEDS SPORTS, these Carbon Fibre wheels weigh only 2.76 Kgs each, but cost $12000 ( Approx Rs. 516000/-) for a set of 4. BTW,only for track use.

Could buy a weekend car for that much moolah.

nice real nice, by any chance will the mass production for the road cars reduce the cost of this???????

it will be great for Indian roads at least, with all these pot holes they will take the abuse well and being light weight will give Good FE figures.

any thoughts league aura lenso and other wheel makers you listening?

i dont think one would think twice to spend around 30-50k for a set of 5 for these babies depending on the segment of the car.

well there have been certain problems like long distance stress induced fractures in these wheels in bikes.there is a company named Black Stone Tech.(BST) who produce motorcycle CF wheels.there is a member on an international zx-12r forum who broke the 320kph barrier on the 12r.he used these wheels.on repetetive use and then scanning this wheel under some electronic scanners he found that there were some stress fractures.

because CF has a very high yield strength in a particular direction.and very very less in the other direction,it might be the reason.also another factor is that after the yield point the CF becomes brittle and develops fractures.its not elastic beyond that point.

so i'll really have apprehensions before buying a CF wheel.

you can get a RAYS gram light wheels if you want for 50k a wheel.that was what i was quoted from the distributor in india.hehe.

Any oxidation the gems would have picked up would get removed, thus bringing them back to their glittery self.

Not bad at all.at almost half the price.though you'll have to be careful bringing them down here.you have to save on the duty part.try to get them as baggage of a 2 or 3 people.and remove the chalk cross mark they put when you get the luggage from the conveyer belt.and act like an uneducated person who's got the rims for throw away prices like Rs.8000 or something.thats how i brought my zx-12r's tires from singapore.acted as a typical punjabi with no idea about anything.and told hiw got the tires for 3k and other bike stuff for 2k whereas the real cost was over 150k.lol.
