Tyre Mouth Actually what your friend meant was to fit in a tubeless tyre valve stem onto the existing rim to mount a tubeless tyre. While this is generally followed,it depends on what brand of tyre you're doing this. Good year and Bridgestone will fit fine. I have no experience with other brands.

As for if it can, Yes, but as for if its safe, NO.

If they are tube tyres then why would one want to take out the tubes and create unwanted concern?.

I advise against it.

If you suggest the latter option which is the best 155/70 R 13 tyres for hyundai santro. I am looking for durability as i'll be doing most of my driving on the terrible roads of Kochi. Also if you could indicate the cost of the tyre and best place in Kochi to buy them.

Thanks
Madhav
How are the treads? With 41k KM and 4 years, I suppose the tire has become weak and worn out.
I would suggest replacement of all the tires if you expect reliability and safety from your car.
You can choose tubeless tires and there are lot of choices in the market.
I am not familiar with the shops in Kochi, may be local T-BHPians can help you with this.
What is the current size of your tires? The tire size mentioned by you is alright for Santro.

Why not consider Michelin XM1+?
They are good soft compound tires.
I have them on 2 of my cars and have had no problems with them.
Also consider Yokohama and Continental for a wider choice

I had used Michelin xm1 earlier. Though the ride quality is great the wear is quick and they lasted on 30k kms. Especially considering the bad roads at Kochi.

Best place to buy would be Global tyres, palarivattom. I would suggest you get Turenza ER 60 in that size. Dont go for S322/B250. They are crappy tyres

Re: Tubeless Tyres For Santro

UPDATE:

I have been running on Michelin tires on my santro for the past 9 years. Amazing comfort, great road grip. Wears off faster than stock bridgestone tire.

I have been running on first up size, previous XM1 and lately XM2. Its pointless to increase more as it might hit the body with 4+ persons, increase road noise.

It costs somewhere around Rs. 3600/ appx (Chennai)

Have been having problems with santro steel rims and tubeless tires.
It leaks all the air.
Got it changed into new rims last year and the problem has reduced but its there.

So every time I am at the bunk I am forced to check for air pressure. Its always 2 points low at the end of 10 days.
