Jeep Renegade spotted testing with Yeti for company

Jeep's mini SUV - the Renegade has been spotted testing once again. The car was seen in Chennai alongside a Skoda Yeti.

According to media reports, the Renegade was being tested with a certain hardware, which will be shared with the upcoming Jeep SUV (codenamed Jeep 551), which is likely to be a rival for the Yeti.

The Jeep 551 shares the same platform as the Renegade and is expected to be built in India (click here to read report). The car will be built at the Tata-Fiat JV facility in Ranjangaon. The facility will also be assembling some other Jeep models.

In international markets, the Renegade is available with multiple engine options - 1.4-litre, MultiAir II petrol (138 BHP / 230 Nm), 1.6-litre, E-TORQ petrol (109 BHP / 152 Nm), 1.6-litre, Multijet II diesel (118 BHP / 320 Nm) and a 2.0-litre, Multijet II diesel (138 BHP or 168 BHP / 350 Nm). These engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission.
